French-born baker Patrice Ramain and his wife, Mary, started French Gourmet Bakery in 1973 after he moved from France in his early 20s. The bakery has remained a staple for American and French pastries in Houston for nearly 50 years. Now daughter Lauren Ramain Montgomery and her daughter Marlee have joined the family business, and together the Ramains carry on this rich family heritage and an unwavering commitment to quality and service.

Wonderful neighborhood bakery with a large variety of breads, pastries, cookies and cakes available daily. A few of the cakes need to be ordered in advance if you want the entire cake but there are several available same day. We love their chocolate cake and their chocolate mousse cake.

Stopped in for a pastry and ended up getting lunch meal- came with half turkey sandwhich, cesar salad, hot drink and slice of cake. It was all good. It gets very busy and parking lot is wonky- very steep driveways, so go slow.

Love getting our King Cake’s from this family-owned bakery. Had a small hiccup with my online order and the staff went above and beyond to remedy it. Everyone is lovely and generous, a true gem! Can’t wait to dive in to our king cake. Highly recommend a visit.

I have enjoyed French Gourmet since the 70’s. They have the best baguettes. My favorite cookie is the thumbprint., oh my! The quiche and salad lunch is delicious.I love the salad dressing. We bought a Kings cake last week.

The bakery’s aesthetic is beautifully done. With the presentation of the baked goods, the design and the decor, along with a complimenting friendly service, and reasonable prices. I will find myself coming back here again. I had the jalapeño and cheese kolache and it was delicious. In a perfect soft and flakey croissant bun, along with 2 complimenting slices of jalapeño. It by definition was a perfect kolache. Also for first timers they give you a complimentary thumbprint cookie!! The raspberry was my favorite choice.
