We had the best time at French Custard this evening! First of all, ice cream flights are the best idea EVER. We got two flights and tried 12 different flavors between the three of us. We then ranked all 12 flavors, our top 3 were all tied for first: Biscoff, Salted Carmel and Peanut Butter Mud Pie, honorable mention is the Risty Crunch only not top placing because one of our group doesn’t like Toffee.
But truly, the highlight was the two girls working tonight. They were so friendly, knowledgeable and made the whole experience fun. This shop is so lucky to have such amazing employees. The ice cream was incredible, the service was phenomenal and we can’t say enough good things about our visit.

My new favorite ice cream place in KC so far. They have so many new and innovative flavors that you’ll honestly be lost trying to choose, but whatever you end up getting, it’s going to be something super yummy. Definitely worth it.

Best ice cream I have ever had! I had the honeycomb ice cream and loved it! Smooth and creamy and delicious honeycomb candy that I believe they make themselves. I’ve tried so many different ice creams and ice cream shops in my life, but the honeycomb ice cream is the best ever! I haven’t even tried other flavors here, since the honeycomb is so good.

The custard is delicious, but seating is limited. I would have given this place 5 stars but there is a lack of seating at the store. Most of the seating is outside, so it has to be a decent day for custard. The taste was full, and they have some unique flavors. Most of the staff were friendly. They have cones and cups for delicious consumption. The parking is small for the shopping area. If you walking by on the trail or you are visiting this area, I recommend visiting.

This is a hidden gem. Loved their ice cream. It was our first time trying it. Lots of delicious flavors to choose from. I went with biscoff and honeycomb and it was creamy and perfect. It even had bits of the crunchy honeycomb. My husband had the ooey gooey butter cake and strawberry straciatella and he loved it as well. The staff was very firienly as well. We will definitely be back! It was great way to end our Saturdate!

It was an online review that led me to French Custard, which is in the lovely Morningside Shops at 59th and Brookside. Their custard is the best frozen treat I’ve ever had. There are many fabulous flavors and a helpful, congenial staff. Really couldn’t ask for more!

Alert: Best chocolate ice cream in the city!
Very good quality ice cream. I wasn’t sure if it was custard because the texture wasn’t as smooth or rich as I am used to for most custard bases, but it was good nonetheless.
My coworker and I had the honeycomb and chocolate flavors respectively (and I came back immediately for the experimental strawberry corn salsa flavor, because I finished my cup so fast).
The chocolate flavor was probably the best I have had in KC. It was not overly sweet and it didn’t have any weird aftertaste that often comes with chocolate ice cream.
The strawberry street corn ice cream was very good. The strawberry ripples were amazing. The only downside was there were portions of the ice cream that didn’t have the strawberry or street corn add-ins, so it just tasted like ice cream base. The base is good, but the mix-ins really seal the deal.
The only critique I would have is to find a way to really get all the ripples and mix-ins fully incorporated throughout the base so that every bite has a little bit of goodness in it.
I will definitely be back to try out more flavors, along with having at least one scoop of chocolate.

We discovered French Custard after the Brookside Art Fair and have made our way to it on several occasions, trying different flavors each time! Will have a hard time deciding the next time we go. We took grandkids there after a visit to the zoo and they were in custard heaven. Delicious! We will be back, again, and again and again!
