One of the really good French restaurants on the island. I had the seafood risotto and it was super delicious and perfectly cooked. The service was great too. Our waiter was very respectful and had a really nice attitude. It was pouring rain and almost closing time, but they stayed open for us until the rain stopped, which I really appreciated.

Prices were reasonable, and I’d definitely like to come back to try more from their menu.

Confit pork ain’t confit but more like salty Xmas ham. Beef burgundy is not a traditional one and seems like frog legs and escargot are made out of oil instead of butter. Carrot puree was super over power with cumin.
Not a great place. Make our stomach upset.

I couldn’t remember the name of the restaurant when I came home from my vacation. I wanted to leave a glowing review.! I loved it so much that we came back for a second meal. Years ago, when we lived in Massachusetts, My husband and I came to Saint Martin for two weeks and enjoyed many a great meal. This restaurant definitely was the best French meal I have had anywhere! The escargot were perfect, and I’ve had escargot at many higher priced restaurants all over the world, including France. I’m very fussy about onion soup. I love it with a wonderful crusty cheese on top and not a ton of bread. Again, this was a perfect onion soup. The Dover Sole Was sublime.
The service is perfect.
What made me finally write a review today? A friend I know is going to Saint Martin and I wanted her to go to this restaurant. So I went on Google and found it – I’m so glad I did because I really wanted the restaurant to know that the Effort they put into each meal is so much appreciated by those who enjoy really good food

My family and I came here for dinner tonight looking for a good French restaurant. Instead, we got a fantastic French restaurant. Everything we ordered was sensational. Our favorite main was the beef as well as the sea bass. Every entree, appetizer, and desert was completely finished. We all left full and impressed. We will definitely be coming back!

Wow! What a huge disappointment… For years, my wife and I have been making an annual pilgrimage from the US to St. Martin. We enjoy delicious food, especially fine French cuisine. In 2025, we discovered French Cocotte, and we immensely enjoyed our dinner there. So, this year, French Cocotte was the dinner choice for the evening of our arrival.

The trouble started right away. I ordered a very dry Grey Goose martini. The drink served must have been half vermouth. Yuk. I left it mostly full, expecting our server would ask if it was okay. He did not. The cocktail was still on our table when we departed. We split a cheese casserole, which was good, but not good enough to salvage the meal. My wife had the Dover sole meunière. While I wouldn’t bet $10 that a genetic test would confirm that it was actually Dover sole, the fish was well cooked. The problem was the lemony caper butter sauce was served on the side in a tiny crock. The sauce seemed to be burned, and was not edible. Absent sauce, the fish was rather bland, saved by the disappointing addition of salt. I ordered the beef bourguignon, supposedly a classic French stew from Burgundy, featuring beef slow-cooked in red wine with bacon, carrots, onions, and mushrooms, resulting in a rich, tender, and flavorful dish often served over potatoes or noodles. The dish came in a small covered crock. The sauce including no visible mushrooms, pearl onions, mushrooms or bacon, but did include some small orange specks; maybe carrots. The beef was so fatty that much of it was returned to the plate from my mouth — said pile of rejected beef also ignored by our server. Absent key ingredients, the sauce was nearly tasteless and was elevated to barely edible (again) by salt. The highlight of the evening was a bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape (perhaps from Château Mont-Redon?). At $51, it was fairly priced, just over retail. However, when the check came, the price was increased to $91, more than double retail price.

There were few diners there on a Wednesday evening, which is no surprise considering the poor quality of food and service. French Cocotte is off our list.

This place is so special!!! We went for a romantic evening and French food and it exceeded our expectations. The French onion soup was the best we’ve ever had. The pulled duck was outstanding. So flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Megan and her husband, a local and the owners, made us feel like we were in their own kitchen. So warm and welcoming. We can’t wait to go back!

What’s not to love about French Cocotte? Set right on the water in Cupecoy, this place delivers what I can confidently say was one of the best French meals I’ve ever had and that’s no exaggeration.

From start to finish, everything was cooked to perfection and packed with incredible depth of flavor. The salad was crisp and fresh, the French onion soup was rich and comforting, and the duck confit? Simply flawless, tender, flavorful, and beautifully executed.

This is fine dining without the pretense. Pricing was more than reasonable for the quality, especially on an island known for tourist markups. It’s the polar opposite of the overpriced microwaved vegetable nonsense you’ll find elsewhere. Every detail, from the service to the plating, reflects care, craft, and authenticity.

If you’re on the island and looking for a memorable dinner in a stunning setting, this is where you go.

The food and drinks are amazing in this place. Leo was very helpful on making choices. The egg with truffles, pulled duck and pork in a cheese sauce as well as escargots are must have. The gin with basil is a drink you must try!!! Overall great experience and we are going to go back there before we leave the island.

Our first night in St. Maarten and someone suggested that we should go to this restaurant. So glad we took his advice. This was a fabulous find. The food was so delicious, you could tell it was prepared and served by people who really cared about what they were presenting. Please if you go have the pulled duck, it’s divine. Had a lovely cocktail alongside it. If you find yourself in St Maarten please look this place up , you won’t be disappointed , just might have found yourself a new favorite restaurant.

It’s been a month since my stay in SXM. French Cocotte is still, hands down, the highlight of the entire trip. Leo is attentive and welcoming from before you even get into the restaurant and makes you feel like family by the time you leave. The view is impeccable and the food is out of this world! I have been to plenty fine dining restaurants but this place is on another level.

Until next time xoxo
