Wonderful French restaurant in Casco Viejo, located within the La Compañía Hotel.

This restaurant exceeded our expectations overall. The atmosphere is beautiful both indoors and on the patio. We were initially seated inside but asked to move outdoors, which was very comfortable given the weather.

We ordered the lobster bisque, steak tartare, and scallops Saint-Jacques as appetizers, followed by lobster au gratin and veal for our main courses.

All of the dishes were well executed, but the scallops were the standout, served piping hot, with scallops cooked nearly perfectly (slightly on the more done side) and paired with smooth, well-seasoned mashed potatoes. They were excellent, and we’re planning to return specifically for them.

For the main courses, the veal was flavour packed but could’ve been more tender, while the lobster au gratin was slightly overcooked. Overall, the appetizers were stronger than the mains.

That said, this is a lovely restaurant offering solid French cuisine, attentive service, and a great setting. Well worth a visit while in Casco Viejo.

Great restaurant, excellent atmosphere…. However, the food & service can be better during Christmas Eve!

Lam dumplings, escargot , onion soup, salad, bread, and refreshments in between are all good. The duck confit risotto is a bit too sweet.

The glass of wine I ordered is exchanged to the right taste of freshness.

Overall I still enjoyed it!

Fernando gave us excellent service and was so friendly and attentive. The oysters were quite possibly the best I have ever had: so creamy and delicious, salty and sweet! Steak tartare did not disappoint. All was exactly what you might expect from an excellent French menu. The ambiance was superb, lovely French mucus accompanied our meal and the timing was impeccable. Excellent service throughout. The amuse bouche started us off perfectly- rich flavors and light and smooth. Definitely inspired!

We happen to walk past and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. The food is above outstanding. The service is above and beyond. We enjoyed the food so much that we came back a second time for dinner to sample even more of the amazing menu.

Truly excellent meal here. Fernando was awesome: made helpful suggestions and kept the meal going perfectly smoothly all night. Great atmosphere, great food, and if you’re lucky, owner-manager Chris may stop by and explain the really fascinating history of the building.

I can not begin to explain the level of service at this restaurant. They went above and beyond in every way for our meal. We were a table of 10 and had some food allergies and restrictions. For me dairy and oil/butter. I can not have it. They sent the staff to the local bakery just so I could have bread when everyone else at the table was having it. Then for my personal meal they ensured there was no oil nor dairy in every dish I had. This place is top notch and the food was incredible. The flavors beyond beautiful but packed with fresh ingredients and incredible taste. You will not be disappointed. It is located in a beautiful historical hotel. The owner gave us a historical lesson on the incredible structure he unearthed and preserved and is now apart of the restaurant’s unique arquitectura. Great for a romantic dinner or a gathering.
