Staying at the Hotel St. Cloud in Cañon City was a unique and memorable experience that perfectly blended history with modern comfort. The recent renovation of this historic building is nothing short of remarkable. The character and charm of the original architecture have been beautifully preserved, while the updated interiors offer a fresh, stylish, and inviting atmosphere.
From the moment you walk into the lobby, you can feel the soul of the place — high ceilings, vintage touches, and thoughtful decor that nods to the hotel’s storied past. The rooms are spacious, immaculately clean, and tastefully redesigned. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and every detail, from the lighting to the linens, felt carefully chosen to enhance the guest experience.
One of the highlights of the hotel is definitely the WarRoom bar. Located just off the lobby, it’s an absolute gem. The design is edgy and modern with military-inspired decor that plays off the name, while still feeling cozy and welcoming. I ordered an Old Fashioned and it was honestly one of the best I’ve had in a long time — balanced, smooth, and served with care.
The bartenders are friendly, knowledgeable, and make you feel right at home. The selection of cocktails and local beers is excellent, and it’s clearly a popular spot for both guests and locals, which gives the space great energy in the evenings.
The renovation of the Hotel St. Cloud, including the WarRoom bar, breathes new life into downtown Cañon City. It’s rare to find a place that respects its history so deeply while confidently stepping into the future. Whether you’re passing through or planning a weekend getaway, this hotel is absolutely worth the stay. I’ll definitely be coming back.

We stumbled into Hotel St. Cloud and Fremont Public House and I am in love! The restoration is immaculate. The entire place is a feast for the eyes. The bar is absolutely stunning with gorgeous wood furniture and comfortable seating throughout. The live music added the perfect touch to the ambiance.
Teddy provided amazing service and slung us up a couple of amazing cocktails. We didn’t eat dinner but did grab a sweet treat. The Peach Napoleon dessert was the perfect touch to the evening. So delicious!
Chelsea, the manager, was an amazing host and gave us a tour of the place, including insight to the history of the building and details of the restoration. Her pride in the Hotel St. Cloud and associated bars and restaurants radiates off of her and makes you love the place even more.
I have no doubt the hotel is going to be phenomenal and can’t wait to return once it opens.

We spotted Fremont Public House while walking around Cañon City, and were so glad we stopped in for a drink. The service was incredible, welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. The cocktails were amazing, and definitely the best cocktails in Cañon City.
The actual atmosphere might be the best part. It’s a gorgeous space, and the actual bar is an a beautiful classic wood bar, and it perfectly blends old west saloon vibes with a modern cocktail bar.

We stopped on our adventures one day for lunch and after reading reviews, we headed to Fremont Public House. As stated, we did find the bar & grill area very inviting, tasteful and stylish. The atmosphere was relaxing and the service was great. In addition, our lunch appeared thoughtfully plated and enticing when it arrived. We were, however, very disappointed with the quality of the meat used on the burger. It appeared to be a type of burger made with the use of some type of filler versus a higher ground beef percent for the taste and quality I would expect at that price point. In addition. We also had the “ steak sandwich” which ended up being 70% mushroom pieces and onions and 30% small overcooked meat chips. Disappointing experience.

Walked in one random evening to explore while visiting…. AMAZING bartenders and wonderful selection of craft drinks. Cory, one of the outstanding bartenders, takes pride in his drinks and really makes sure you’re taken care of. I suggest the espresso martinis and have him add the coconut cream. On some Saturday nights they have live music and it really makes for an outstanding atmosphere- and the singer…. She’s AMAZING. Such an amazing find and I love to stop in when I’m in town
