Freehand Coffee Shop is an absolute gem in Pendleton!
This coffee shop is everything you want in a local spot — super cute, beautifully decorated, and instantly cozy. The warm, dark tones mixed with pops of light and fresh plants make the whole space feel inviting and peaceful. The coffee was fantastic with tons of options, and their pastry selection is the perfect bonus. I also loved that they offer a drive-through, making it so easy to swing by on busy days.

If you’re in the Pendleton/Anderson area, do yourself a favor and check out this incredible local coffee shop — you’ll fall in love just like I did! ☕️

Check out their “shop favorites”, innovative and creative concoctions that are a great way to break out of what you normally would order. I have had a couple different drinks here and I’m impressed by their sugar free syrup choices. Would love them to add some gluten free choices for muffins/scones. We usually have a group of 5-6 so a bit limited on seating choices but I understand why they arrange for mostly smaller groups. They do have seating outside in nicer weather. Staff is friendly!

The atmosphere, food, and staff are great. The muffins and cheddar bacon biscuits specifically are good.

In my opinion, the lattes and other drinks (thai tea and hot chocolate) are not very good (my experience is they are watery), which is why I typically just order food when I go there.

This coffee shop has to be the best in Pendleton because the staff was very nice and quick despite being only one person there I got the lavender mocha and the west coast and the mocha was one of the best mochas I’ve ever had and the west coast was a nice balance of earthy-ness and sweetness we also got a drip coffee and a dirty chai and they were both amazing! The music was wonderful as well.
I definitely recommend.

Overall it’s a nice coffee shop. I will say it’s a bit more expensive than I’d like, but when it’s the only one open, what choice do you have!

The staff was quite, but friendly. The store is very well kept. It seems to pull more of the college crowd into it, mostly packed during the day with the students.

My biggest complaint here is the cost.

I live in the neighborhood and have given this place a shot a few times now, and every single time I leave wondering “who is coming back here after having this coffee?”

The staff is nice and the it has a nice vibe with plenty of seating, but man they just don’t know how to make a good cup of coffee to save their lives. Every cold brew I’ve gotten has been basically water with some cream in it, and the lattes are all SO sweet.

I want to like it here since it’s right down the street, but the coffee just isn’t very good at all.

Delicious coffee. I love to stop here and grab something to go while I run errands. And they always have so many new flavors! I got Miley’s Flowers this go-round.

Besides not knowing (or caring) what coffee was being served that day, the server wasn’t too interested in touching on anything coffee related (I tried to find out what roasts were available that day – hoping maybe I could score a decent dark blend, but was only met by a blank stare).
Then my coffee was served in a tea glass…and even shared nearly the same opacity as a cup of tea…
The coffee was pretty much on the level of flavored hot water.
Bottom line: nice location, decent ambience – but don’t let the name fool you.

Wonderful atmosphere and customer service! Really loved my drinks. All of their syrups are made in house, which is super rare and something I really love. The lady at the cash register was super friendly and helpful. I am a barista though and I have a few thoughts/suggestions: first off I did notice that they do not have cold foam lids, which are very helpful to get the full flavor profile of the drink. The second thing is, I could tell that they do not mix their flavors in a pitcher. I have always been taught to put my flavors into a metal cup or pitcher then pour the espresso over the flavor, then stir the flavor into the espresso and cool down the shot with milk for an iced drink. I have noticed that makes the best coffee and really brings out a great balance between espresso and flavor. They definitely put the flavors in the bottom of the cup and tried to mix it in, but that never works. However, the drink itself was really great! I got a white Christmas, which is a white chocolate peppermint, cold brew with cold foam and I’m definitely savoring it! I rarely give good reviews for coffee shops, but I wouldn’t mind going back to this one.
