If you’re looking for comfort food with a bit of a rebellious streak, check out Freedom Beat inside the Downtown Grand Hotel in Las Vegas.

Created by Hell’s Kitchen winner Chef Scott Commings, this spot mixes classic American eats with a laid-back, rock ‘n’ roll vibe. There’s live music too! Except not when I was there, but I saw a microphone stand so I trust it happens.

Food was just ok. Prime rib was middle of the road. Didn’t really taste like prime rib.

Carrots and broccoli were undercooked.

Potatoes were fried but the big ones were undercooked and gross.

Snake bites came out cold and just bland.

Patty melt and breakfast sandwich was good though.

Stopped by on a Saturday morning and asked to see a menu before deciding to have breakfast. The hostess asked my friend if she wanted to hold the menu instead, which caught us a little off guard—but no big deal.

Once we sat down, our server was very nice, and the food was great! The only thing that stood out was noticing another server frequently playing with her hair while handling food, which wasn’t the most appetizing sight. Hopefully, that’s something that can be addressed.

Overall, we still had a good experience and enjoyed our meal!

This place used to have live music and excellent food with a nice variety of delicious items. A few months ago when we came they were closed and now they have reopened and have a very basic Denny’s style menu.
We had our mouth gixed for their delicious french toast and the roasted beef sandwiches, but no more. Even the waitress said many people leave when they take a look at the new menu.
Guess we’re finding a new spot because this was a big factor in choosing to stay at the Downtown Grand.

I really enjoyed this place for breakfast, and as well as not being too busy in the mornings it had great service and some more healthy food options. There’s lots of different seating options and they didn’t mind me using one of the spacious booths despite dining alone, which was great. The prices aren’t too unreasonable for the portion sizes and the service of both food and drinks is fast. Everything was well cooked and tasty, and if you’re staying in the hotel its ideally located for getting a great start to your day.

Staying at the downtown Grand for EDC week and decided to come here for breakfast one morning. Their chicken fried steak is one of the best I’ve ever had! The gravy was very rich & flavorful and complimented the rest of the meal very well

We were very disappointed at what Freedom Beat has become. 2 years back while staying at the Grand we enjoyed breakfast here every morning, and even a dinner or two. They are only open half the week now, and the meanu is limited. Breakfast consisted of two toaster hash brown, flaccid bacon and cold pancakes for $18.

Don’t waste you time or money.

Freedom Beat is a great restaurant in the Downtown Grand Hotel. They’re famous for the pot roast sandwich. Never in my life did I think I’d ever order a pot roast sandwich but here, it’s the move to make! Other notable dishes are the fried pickles and the wings!

What a nice surprise to find this little joint in our hotel. We hit it up for a quick lunch and were absolutely thrilled with the food. We ordered the pot roast sandwich, the pastrami burger, wings and cheese curds. Four of us shared these plates and we were stuffed!

First, a signature dish is the pot roast sandwich. We had never had anything like this before and it was mouth watering and delicious! The savory sandwich is piled with pot roast and melted cheese on perfectly toasted sourdough bread. Served with fries and a side of the gravy for dipping. You just have to try this! Perfectly seasoned and just melt in your mouth pot roast with crunchy bread. So, so good!

Now, I don’t know what to say about the cheese curds but ‘may I have another?’ They were like crack and I couldn’t get enough! Soft and tender cheese fried in literally the lightest batter I’ve ever had. Crunchy like tempura and super light. It was so hard to stop eating them! Dip them in some ranch and they were the most perfect snack.

The pastrami burger was also delicious. Piled high with pastrami on top of a burger patty and a soft bun. Cooked to perfection and quick to satisfy your hunger, it’s a solid choice.

I didn’t try the wings (I couldn’t eat another bite), but my husband said they were delicious. They were a good sized portion and cooked beautifully.

The atmosphere here is music themed, with a stage hosting live bands on the weekends and possibly the evenings if I heard that correctly. The booths are roomy and have musical instrument cases between them. It’s just a nice vibe in there and a pleasant dining experience. The service was great and the food was excellent – just a nice little hidden gem right there in the Downtown Grand.
