We were lucky to book some reasonable hotel rates on super.com for a queen suite at the Excuetive Hotel. It gave us time to enjoy Free Bird. It was a nice surprise, as the food and service was exceptional. The Chicken Sandwich and fries was outstanding, but I was stoked on their happy hours ribs, succulent, slow cooked, fall off the bone goodness. Excellent beer menu.

Perhaps a review of this menu item, the Corn Bread, should be done. It falls apart completely, can’t cut or or spread the side cart of spicy honey butter on it. The result is a smashed pile of crumbs one must mush and then consume lol.
Food taste is good, service and atmosphere great. High on the price end. $9 for this 2 pieces or corn crumble btw 🙂

You can’t go wrong with Freebird if you are in the area. I popped in at happy hour, and enjoyed a great meal + local pints. The sticky ribs and sliders were satisfying. The menu has a lot of options, rich flavours – this is combined with a very friendly and approachable staff that made me feel at home. My server Allison was attentive and made great recommendations. I’ll certainly visit again!

This hidden gem was a highlight of our trip to Vancouver. We took advantage of the Dine Out Vancouver promo menu (Freebird Southern Platter) and we were not disappointed! So much goodness on one plate! The food was amazing, the service outstanding and the place has a special casual vibe that is hard to describe. Carlos was a great server but it is clear that all the staff want the experience to be memorable and each of them played a role in making it special. If you are in the neighbourhood (and even if you aren’t), make this part of your plans.

I enjoyed my happy hour experience @Free Bird. We arrived shortly after 3pm and had the ribs, pork belly sliders & oysters – a dozen for $18. The feature cocktail was a melon spritzer. Good proportions, fresh seafood, great deals.

Decent place to relax with tasty food and good music. It’s a bar for snacks and drinks, but it’s also great as a restaurant to enjoy a decent meal. Food were delicious and served fast. Portions are large and good for share. Oysters were fresh and BBQ ribs were Juicy. Highly recommended!

Recently came back here after the first experience was great. Had a steak , and chicken sliders. Both tasted great, the sliders are a little spicy and our server was friendly and quick even though it was pretty busy.
I also ordered a Mushroom linguine to go and it was eaten right away after arriving home but was fairly disappointed. I did not expect the same amount of mushrooms as olives and the overall taste didn’t match my expectations.
***Went on a Thursday evening. Great live music just a little too loud to talk normally for part of the evening. Staff was super friendly and quick and food was tasty.
