Fred’s is a great local eating spot. It seems to have grown up in my opinion to serve food to an underserved area of the local city. There are not an overly abundant amount of restaurants in this particular area. Also in my opinion they remind me of a old school early morning hole in the wall quick stop breakfast spot. In the south. The type of place young mothers might stop to feed their kids on the way to work and school in the morning. It is the type of spot that if you are not from the area or understand the culture, you will look and think twice before entering but once you try the food you will keep going back. The food was good. The service was quick. The atmosphere was okay but could stand a little more. For instance the television could be a little bigger and they could stand to brighten up the color scheme a little more. But all in all they are not a bad place to catch a breakfast meal especially if you want to do something a little different.

Fred’s Soul Food Restaurant is a true gem that embodies the heart of traditional Southern cuisine. This cozy, down-home eatery is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic soul food. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a warm atmosphere and the owner’s welcoming smile, setting the tone for a delightful dining experience. The food is absolutely phenomenal, with a wide variety of options that cater to every taste. The full breakfast platter is a standout, featuring fluffy scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, cheese grits, and a perfectly cooked biscuit. The salmon croquettes and fried bologna sandwiches are also highly recommended, offering a nostalgic taste of home-cooked meals. The portions are generous, and the prices are incredibly reasonable, making it a great value for the quality and quantity of food you receive. What truly sets Fred’s apart is its community-driven spirit. The staff knows many customers by name, and the friendly banter adds to the warm, family-like atmosphere. Whether you’re a local or just visiting Jackson, Fred’s Soul Food Restaurant is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking authentic, delicious, and comforting soul food. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience this local treasure!

Awesome little “almost hidden” gem in Georgetown… easily accessible to the Belhaven neighborhood. I work in Belhaven and it’s a hop and a skip, no jump! Food is how breakfast is supposed to be: good, fresh, hot, and hearty! This isn’t my first time and won’t be my last!

I had business venture in the area. Found some time for breakfast and did a review on top breakfasts. Thanks for some quick research and I ended up here. Wow what a delight. Lots of choices personally I ate the fried chicken, sausage and eggs. On my way out 4 cooks were sitting for coffee and chit chat. All very much like what I would define as grandma’s. Now I know why the food was soo good. Cant beat the price and the hospitality. Many Thanks to the staff!
