Not a cheap spot and the wait can be significant at times, but a great option in Krog.
The service was friendly and efficient, and we loved sitting at the walk-up bar — it made for a relaxed, fun experience. The atmosphere at Krog Street Market adds to the vibe, making it a great spot to grab a quality burger.
Fred’s Meat & Bread continues to be one of my Krog Street Market favorites. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a consistently delicious burger in a casual setting!
I decided to get the mushroom shire Philly and garlic fries with ranch. My total came out to almost $30 which I was a tad thrown off by, but when I felt how heavy the bag was- I shut my mouth, cause it was loaded!
The ribeye was seasoned deliciously. I had a hard time putting the sub down once I got my hands on it. The minor feedback I have for the sub is as follows: a) i bit into a few pieces of gristle on the ribeye (as a texture-sensitive person, this was impactful & almost made me throw away the sub. For an almost $20 sub, I expected better )
b) the wedges of grilled onion as opposed to traditional, diced grilled onion. Imo the flavors marry deeper when the onions are cut smaller. It felt lazy.
And now for the fries…….. as a fry and garlic girly- these hurt my heart. They had so much potential!!! Aesthetically, the garnish is beautiful and I could tell the fries themselves are cooked to perfection!!!!!! But I was completely caught off guard by the sheer amount of ***RAW GARLIC*** that was sprinkled throughout these French fries. My God today….. nothing could have prepared me for that. I couldn’t taste the fries for the amount of garlic that was on them. The ranch hardly helped . It would be nice if the menu highlighted that they are coated in RAW GARLIC so people can make an informed decision. Garlic powder is fine… cooked minced garlic (to soothe the pungence) would have made this 1000xs better. but sraight up RAW GARLIC WITHOUT A DISCLAIMER, however, is an act of terror . Please remedy this on your menu immediately to prevent further damages to new comers- my relationship with fries and garlic must to be reevaluated now.
All and all- I would return back and try another sub. Probably chicken this time to avoid the gristle. And I will most certainly be avoiding the garlic soup ranch fries going forward
Krog street market has a lot of different food options, but this place had me sold with fries and sandwiches! I opted for something different- salmon blt. The salmon was freshly grilled and the sandwich was messy. Messy in a good way!! We (2 adults, 1 child) shared a large fry and it was more than enough. The only frustration I had was asking for toppings and sauce after the fact when I indeed ordered my son’s burger that way. Be prepared to pay for sauces! Overall GREAT sandwiches for a good price. I can’t wait to go back and try more.
The garlic fries were yummy too but if you don’t like garlic then say away.
10/10 amazing late night meal. Will b back to try the Michelin rated Philly cheesesteak.
Fred’s is counter service. Staff are friendly.
I got the Korean Cheesesteak on their recommendation. It was really fantastic – tastes like a great Philly cheesesteak with Korean spice layered in it. It has a really good heat but compliments the sandwich without overpowering the cheesesteak flavors.
It’s a little difficult to get table seating – we had to sit at a bar on the wall. Overall the vibe is fun, but not exactly intimate.
