Freddy’s use to be my go to! Especially in the early 2000’s! But overtime their food has truly gone downhill. I ordered Alcapurrias, Pepper Steak and Rice, and a Passion Fruit Drink. The Passion fruit drink was amazing! It was cold and slushy, and you can see the specs from all the Passion fruit. It wasn’t artifical and was made with fresh fruit.
As for the Steak and Rice, the steak was seasoned well. It had tons of flavor, but also tons of fat. Peppers were hardly there, but overall it was good! Now the rice on the other hand, was overly dry and bland. It lacked flavor and moisture. At one point I thought and asked myself if this is like Goya box rice. It was decent, and did the job with the steak, but I definitely won’t be breaking my neck to order again.
Lastly, the Alcapurrias. I ordered the yuca, and looking at them, I thought they were going to be amazing. I went to bite into it, and could barely get through the outside! It was stale on top of being over cooked, that it felt almost completely solid. I was so disappointed. I thought to myself maybe its cold, even though it felt warm to the touch. I warmed it in the microwave for like 7 seconds, but yea, completely stale. I ended up throwing it in the trash. $6 gone right down the drain.
Overall, I definitely won’t be back. It seems as if they don’t care anymore, and food is too expensive to keep paying for stuff that’s mid. You can see in the pictures how bland and dry the food was for $24.
La Cocina in pennsauken is a much better alternative, and they actually care about the taste of their food. 3/10 rating

The food was delicious! You were right when you said I wouldn’t need any mojito lol. I was in the area and was looking for some Spanish food. I went on a IG page for best Latino food in Philly and this restaurant popped up as number 2! The service was excellent! I’ll definitely be back again.

We were pleasantly surprised after trying this spot for brunch. I loved the rice that came with the beef. I had the mofongo. It was flavorful and filling! The best part was the drinks. I loved the mango drink. It was the perfect balance of sweetness. Service was a tad slow and it took awhile for our drinks to come out (they came out after our food). However, they were doing a ton of takeout and there was only one server. Overall, this was a great value and I can’t wait to return!

Nice selection of food options. The ladies do soap English and Spanish. The place is usually busy. The mango juice was a refreshing tasty after my meal. The parking is a first come first serve, little to none, and not really a lot of street parking. Meals are about 10-20 per person.

I got served with an attitude. Food was really greasy n over priced. My husband wanted to take it back but I told him not to waste his time. The girls there were to busy chitchating instead of serving with a smile.

First time visiting this place with a friend who raved about it!! You have to try their mango slushee. You can taste the real mangos!! All their food was fresh and delicious! You can take out or eat in. We ate in. There is plenty of seating and quite spacious, which I loved! Definitely going back! 10/10!!

Great food, great service! Love the passionfruit drink, refreshing and delicious. i got the arroz amarillo + pechuga salteada and last time I was here got the bistec en salsa and it was truly one of the best I’ve ever had. Freddy’s food is always hot, ready and tasty, I will definitely be returning to this one!

I have been doing business with Freddy’s for many years and never had a complaint, until now. Under the new ownership, the restaurant has become completely unreliable. I booked catering for a very important event over a month in advance. Despite repeated requests, I had to practically beg them to send me the invoice so my company could approve it. I confirmed the order and delivery time a full seven days before the event. On the day of the event, just one hour before it was supposed to begin, I contacted them only to find out they had forgotten my order entirely. Their excuse was that they “called the company and no one answered.” This is unacceptable. They had both my cellphone number and my email, yet not once did they try to contact me directly. If the order was confirmed, why use that excuse?
This type of negligence caused unnecessary stress and could have ruined my event. Freddy’s is no longer the reliable restaurant it once was. I strongly advise others not to trust them with any important event.
