We purchased dinner on opening day. We called our order for take-out which was a Clam Strip basket, Perch basket, Chicken Taco, Beef Taco, Zuchinni Strips and Mushrooms. Prices were fair for the quality and amount served. Plenty of sauces provided to go with each item, the food was hot when picked up and everything tasted great. The mushrooms were large and juicy and the batter they use is fabulous. The staff were smiling and genuinely friendly on the phone and in person. There are a few tables to sit inside.

Huge portions for a reasonable price. Had to wait for the food coma to pass before I could write this review. We had the lake perch and it was excellent. The fried mushrooms were good as well as was the portion size. Mushrooms are massive and the breading is quite good. Service was excellent given how busy they were. Very good experience.
The place is cozy just 4 tables so probably not a place to try to eat in with a large group at least in the winter. Not sure if there will be picnic tables outside in the summer or not. If not neither the state or county parks are that far.

I was very pleased with the fried fish. Such a magnificent selection! The batter was very good and crispy. The cod I got was thick and flaky. This is one of those small town hidden gems. The atmosphere is super casual, best for takeout but they have tables and chairs if you wish to dine in- One of those places where you just dig in to your hot fried food and go on about your business.

I love this place. The staff is amazing and friendly. Amazing fresh fish fried right in front of you, and the homemade tarter sauce is great. If I had one complaint it would be the fries come underseasoned, but you can easily add some yourself. This is my favorite spot for takeout in the area for sure. 10/10 would recommend!

Ive only gone to this place twice so far, and honestly its the best fish place I’ve gone to. The portion sizes are excellent for their baskets. The workers are very friendly esspecially Freda. The seasonings that they use in their breading are phenomenal. Their seating is a little limited at the moment but, you can always call in and place an order for pickup to enjoy at home.I look forward to eating here again.

Our first time here, Awesome food, Great staff, good prices and good portions!! Everything we ordered was Outstanding! Gizzards, Cod and Cauliflower! The sauces found out, made fresh in house. Freda’s is great!! Awesome prices and a lot of food for that price!! We love the Lake Perch! Son loves the catfish! Check out their daily specials when you call too. Always some new goodies…and they just added specialty burgers to their menu. They also have mexican items!! Give them a try…you won’t be disappointed!! We always have leftovers too!!

We stopped in to get a feel of this fish shack we have heard about and read the reviews on. Very few real authentic sea food fish shacks in the state of Michigan but let me tell you I don’t need to find another after finding Freda’s. The selection of fish and sea food was amazing, you can get anything from ocean perch to alligator or shrimp to walleye. I personally tackled the walleye today along with a few of their “Munchies” like the mushrooms, jalapeños bits and of course hush puppies. The fish walleye was cooked perfectly and munchies were fantastic. Their menu goes for days along with their specials and let me tell you the prices were fantastic given the portions!!!! Last but certainly not least I was able to purchase some fresh smelt to take home and batter myself. I am beyond please with this place and the hospitality of Freda and her staff.
