One of the best Italian restaurants in wellington. We always go back for their venison risotto and it has been consistent over the last 10+ years. We always just rock up and never needed to book a table which is always nice

Initial impression and the appetizer (calamari) were nice, but then it wen’t downhill. We waited for an hour for one pizza and pasta. I live relatively close to Italy, so I do know how a proper italian food tastes. If we weren’t that hungry, we wouldn’t probably even eat it.

The pasta had a really strange taste, seafood was sour and it didn’t go together well at all. The pizza was average at best, also I don’t know why would you out gorgonzola in a Diavola. At the end nobody asked us for feedback, which just shows the staff don’t really care and we were billed for a bottle of water, which is always for free in any other estabilishment we visited in NZ.

I guess you can eat here, but don’t expect an enjoyable evening.

Had the fries just to start with and they had a nice subtle flavour from the parmesan and truffle, and were hot when served. Tried the ragu as my main and the flavour was perfect, and there was lots of lamb. A little disappointed in the portion given though. Lastly had the tiramisu, which was slightly dense compared to other places, but I think it makes it better to eat. Overall was tasty. Service was good but could be a little more attentive.

We chose this restaurant for convenience to location and reviews that were given. If anything the reviews were too harsh. From the ambience, to the service and attention, and finally to the food, everything was faultless. Welcomed with a genuine warmth, and attended to throughout the evening without being intrusive. For 2 of us, who are big eaters, we ordered 2 starters, 1 side, 2 mains, 3 desserts and 4 drinks. The food was staggered so it didn’t feel you were being rushed to leave even though bookings before 730 are for 2 hours. I might add that no one on the staff even hinted that we would have to leave within this time frame. Finally the food, it was absolutely perfecto! The flavors were so complimentary and portion sizes generous. One of our best dining experiences since we have been in New Zealand. È squisito!

Has a sensational dinner birthday here with family. Fratellis is accessible for wheelchair users which is a HUGE tick for me when planning get together with family.
Food is sensational, wine equally as good. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

If you’re craving authentic Italian food in Wellington, Fratelli is a great choice. We had the Spaghetti di Mare, Pappardelle al Ragu, and Pizza Bianco. Everything was delicious and well-prepared. The staff were friendly and welcoming, making it an all-around lovely dining experience.

Travelling NZ and after 2 weeks of dining out in various places, Fratelli is standing out:

Apart from the restaurant setting itself (interior, cleanliness etc) we were welcomed by extremely attentive and utterly symphatic service staff/hosts. No wait -ok, we reserved beforehand.
The drinks and food menu covered all we we would be asking for from an Italian restaurant. Our nice waitress truly knew the menu -food and drinks- and could assist us with recommendations.
We were being served with high attention throughout the evening, although all tables were well booked.

The quality of what was delivered from the (open) kitchen and the Bar was matching, better: exceeding our hopes. And while we were enjoying every bit of this dinner experience in nice atmosphere, it didn’t bother us the slightest that we exceeded our usual dinner budget/habit, as we had a great time here.

We had Pizza Diavola, Pizza Ot… and Cannoli as desert.

The Negroni aperitivo was so outstanding that we had each 2 of them-
Try it!
Also the Primitivo we ordered with the Pizza was well selected! We actually took the label back home, to potentially replace our most favorite brand – which was beyond compare with all the other Ptimitivos we tried – till yesterday!

We don’t usually post restaurant reviews, but Fratelli deserves the 5 stars.

Thank you Fratelli Team

Great food and restaurant layout, and open Mondays, thank goodness. Tasty food, we did the “Fratelli Feast” (Mondays and Tuesdays) deal with an entrée to share, a main and dessert of your choice. Added extra sides of “Brussels sprouts” and “Garlic and truffle oil fries”, they were delicious. Nice wine and lemonchello too. There are specials, we saw the pan fried fish which looked very good.

The staff were friendly and attentive, we will come back again.

Four of us had a 6:30 pm reservation tonight, Monday evening. By the time I was seated at 6:40 pm, the restaurant was almost full and bustling. We ordered their famous Monday and Tuesday three-course meal. We decided to share all the different dishes. Unfortunately, one of us has a gluten allergy, so we had to order a gluten-free pizza base. As someone who doesn’t eat gluten-free pizza, I can only imagine the regular base would be much tastier. I haven’t tried gluten-free pizza at other places, so I can’t make a comparison. The rest of the food was delicious, and the staff were polite and attentive. They kept our water glasses refilled throughout the meal. We felt well looked after. We were very happy with the service and the food. We’ll definitely come back again.
