If I can, 5 for food, 7 for service, and 10 for the garden. If you are in Belgrade, you need to come. Even though we came for lunch, walking in, we did not order too much, as it is so hot in the noon time. The great handsome server with glasses did not give any less than the best service because we ordered little food. I heard so much great things about this place, and I just want to sit in the garden with a glass of wine and some cold dishes.

It was a thoroughly rainy Friday, and Belgrade—usually so eager to charm—decided to stay indoors. We followed suit and opted for lunch instead. Somewhere between the drizzle and a fond memory of past travels through Croatia and Montenegro, a craving for proper ćevapčići with ajvar took hold. Thus, we found ourselves at Franš.

The first impression is quietly delightful. You arrive from a busy, rather unromantic street, only to descend into a surprisingly magical garden—green, elegant, and wonderfully calm. Franš is very much a restaurant “with standards”: refined interiors, a beautiful outdoor space, and professional, attentive service throughout. It is also conveniently located just a ten-minute walk from the Church of Saint Sava, which is very much a Belgrade must-see.

The menu is impressively long—perhaps a little too long—but we took the sensible route and stayed loyal to Serbian classics: grilled ćevapčići and pljeskavica. Do not miss the ćevapčići with kajmak, a glorious Balkan dairy creation somewhere between butter and a mildly salty cheese. Paired with grilled meat and spicy ajvar, it is deeply satisfying. A Šopska salad with local cheese or roasted peppers is practically compulsory.

As a declared foie gras enthusiast, I must also recommend the sweet version here—served with plum jam and caramelised onions. It is the most luxurious item on the menu and can be ordered as a half portion, which feels both wise and polite. From the starters, the Sjenica cheese deserves a special mention. We skipped dessert, though they looked dangerously tempting—particularly the tulumbe with vanilla ice cream and the Serbian walnut cake.

A final note, for fellow travellers of a certain persuasion: we tend to choose hotels, restaurants, and bars with reviews firmly in hand—Google Maps, Booking.com, TripAdvisor, Foursquare, Yelp. Detailed reviews by local guides and seasoned contributors matter most to us. Still, algorithms are not everything. We always ask locals, especially friends, who have more than once led us to true gems. This time was no exception.

We checked the ratings, studied the photos, and followed the recommendation. The screens did not mislead us. Franš delivered exactly what it promised—and then some. Sometimes the map really does know the way, particularly when a local gives it a gentle nudge.

After many years, back at this location again. Probably the most beautiful garden in the city, top-notch service staff, excellent wine selection. A wide range of vegan options, high-quality ingredients, impressed by the variety of olive oils. A fine-dining restaurant, well worth a visit, especially during the garden seating season when cigarette smoke is less bothersome.

Franš is an absolute must. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with warmth, elegance, and an atmosphere that blends luxury with comfort.
The ambience is stunning – both the indoor and outdoor spaces are beautifully designed, with lush greenery, ambient lighting, and a refined yet cozy vibe. Whether you’re here for a romantic dinner, a business lunch, or a family celebration, Franš delivers on all fronts.
The menu is diverse and masterfully curated, offering both traditional Serbian dishes and international cuisine, all made with the highest-quality ingredients. I highly recommend trying their beefsteak, grilled sea bass, or the classic ćevapi. And don’t skip the appetizers – the cheese selection and homemade bread are fantastic.
What truly sets Franš apart is the service – it’s absolutely world-class. The staff is attentive, professional, and genuinely friendly. They anticipate your needs without being intrusive and make you feel like a valued guest throughout the entire evening.
To top it all off, the wine list is excellent, and the desserts are divine – especially the chocolate soufflé and the traditional Serbian sweets.
Prices are on the higher end for Belgrade, but the quality, service, and overall experience make it more than worth it. Franš isn’t just a restaurant – it’s a Belgrade institution, and dining here is an experience you won’t forget.

Elite, sophisticated, with an exceptionally beautiful interior. When you visit the restroom, you will forget why you came in)). It’s not cheap, but the price paid is worth it. Delicious food, good service, and a quiet, beautiful environment. If you love to pamper yourself, you’ll love this place.

Beautiful restaurant with a beautiful garden seating area.
We had a great time here. Good food, great wine, good service, always worth the visit!
It was my second time here and this time we sat outside and then ended up inside as it was getting cold. But they had heaters and blankets outside.

We’ve been there on december 12. The atmosphere was very beautiful with new year ornaments. The food was very good. The waiters are very attentive and quick, refilling your wine before you even realize your glass is getting low.

I think it’s the best restaurant in Belgrade province. It fulfills all your expectations. The food quality, service, and even the environment all are the best. The staff are everytime available at your service. They made a very good time for us and we are more than pleased. I’ve recommend it to everyone and I always will.

The best thing about this restaurant is it’s atmosphere, it’s so beautiful and green full of flowers. The food was good, not very special but good, the service was awful, our waiter was so cold, unhelpful and as we were here on Saturday night it was busy and it took a long time to get our service and we got really disappointed by the service. The cheese plater was not good neither the wine. My pasta was good but my friend ordered a chicken that she didn’t like it.
