Franny’s Bistro is the perfect elevated spot for a special occasion or just-because, whether a date night or getting together with friends or loved ones. It’s extremely cozy, especially on a winter evening, with moody amber lighting, but not too stuffy. I’m sure their outdoor seating is charming as well when there isn’t snow on the ground.

The dishes on offer are a wide array that nod to both the seafaring roots of coastal Maine, as well as bistro dishes like roasted chicken or steak frites, and even with some New Orleans influence here and there. There’s something for everyone.

The whole team is super welcoming. Our server was Pedja and he was very attentive. We had some nice chats with some of the other folks who sat us and ran out our drinks and food.

My partner had the roast chicken and it was perfect. Tender, not dry, a garlic-herb drizzle that was great for dunking the focaccia, and great potatoes and broccoli rabe.

My scallops & mussels dish was tasty not only because the fish was perfectly done, but because it was all paired with the genius combination of creamed corn and bacon over cheddar grits. WOW.

We felt very welcomed and had a great time. Thank you.

We chose to dine in the sweet outdoor setting. Our party of 4 enjoyed many dishes including starters to desserts. We were encouraged to eat leisurely, enjoying cocktails, fine wines, and gourmet food. Service was very attentive and the staff worked together as a team. Even one of the owners stopped by our table Our meal was one of the highlights of our vacation. Highly recommended to go early and enjoy the evening.

A wonderful meal, best of our holiday so far. A great rum & citrus cocktail followed by shrimp dumplings, mussels, swordfish, arctic char and gingerbread cake. The flavours were stunning and each dish was executed perfectly. Great portions too. But what really made our evening special were the friendly staff – a special mention to Frank who looked after us so well and gave us some local tips for the rest of our time in Camden.

Fabulous meal. We had 2 apps, cucumber zoodles with shrimp dumplings and crab cakes with a unique excellent coleslaw, and then we split an Artic Char special with risotto and asparagus. Everything was outstanding. Service was excellent, and bar tender was attentive. He mixed great Old Fashions.

I mean, it started with their amazing focaccia bread and olive oil so I knew the rest was going to be fabulous. My favorite dish was the halibut. The space is very beautiful.
Also, bonus, my father-in-law was born in Sarajevo and several of the young men that worked there, crazily, were from Bosnia! So sweet. Our server, Eve, was very sweet too.
Great restaurant!

The food was very good all around our table. The service however was lacking. We had missed drink orders and almost ni follow up after the first round and appetizers. Don’t ask for any modifications to a dish, that was a hard no. Some of the salad options are a bit pricey for what you get. If you happen to be seated within 10 feet of the door, you will get blasted with cold air whenever the door is opened.
Will go back to try other dishes because the food was that good. @ $100 per person for a complete dining experience, we hope to have a different waiter and be seated far from the door.

We were greatly pleased with our first dinner evening such that we changed our plans for our second dinner evening on a two night stay in Camden. As a belated Valentine’s Day celebration, I made a special request of a charming table, which was nicely adorned with an “I Love You” balloon, which we thought was a nice touch. We were then greeted by a nice young man, who as it turns out, was new to the server role…he did quite well!
He felt badly about breaking a cork in our wine and the owner then approached us with another bottle. We told her we would gladly take the first bottle, but she insisted.
We started with the grilled romaine, which was out of this world and by far the best I have had. Then, I had the Portuguese Seafood and Linguine, which was just the right amount of heat and the seafood was incredibly fresh, with large sweet, tender mussels, large shrimp and scallops that were perfectly tender and not overwhelming.
I will say my entree selection was a toss up between this and their lamb special-but I will get back to that.
The chef, also co-owner, made a visit to our table which was a pleasant surprise. I had to share my impressions of his creations…they are quite good.
So, with this experience, my wife and I decided we were not going to go to our other planned restaurant the next night, but rather return to Franny’s since our experience was just that good. That allowed me to have their special lamb chops, which were out of this world. They were clearly New Zealand lamb and Chef’s presentation and mastery were not lost on me. I had to share with him that they were by far the best lamb chops I have ever enjoyed…including my own!
We had limited options since this is the off season, but that ended up being a special bonus because we cannot think of having dinner anywhere else when we return. If you like a wonderful atmosphere (also a special nod to the 70’s decor and vibe), great food, great service & an overall wonderful experience, then give Franny’s a try, you will not be disappointed!!

Yummy. Off the beaten path. Unpretentious and simultaneously upscale. The drink program is executed as well as their food, which is very well. One thing that sets them aside of many other places in the area is the accustics. You can hear your dinner companion even when the restaraunt is at full capacity.

My husband and I enjoyed dinner here during our first visit to Camden. We had a reservation and were seated upon arrival on the front porch. Our server, Audrey, was delightful. She let us know their specials and also suggested a few of her personal favorite drinks and dishes when we asked. We enjoyed the mussels to start our meal and I think they were the best I’ve ever tasted, cooked to perfection in a light cream sauce. Our drinks were spectacular, our meals looked beautiful and tasted even better! The scallops were seared perfectly with lots of flavor. For dessert, the Creme Brule and Affogado did not disappoint. The owner was attentive and made sure everyone was enjoying their dining experience. This was truly an emotional experience and touched all of our senses. If you are in the area, you have to go to Franny’s Bistro!
