Updated: stopped by Frannie’s for lunch on our way to Guelph. Had a wonderful turkey club sandwich. The turkey was so fresh, tender, and not dry at all. My husband had the Frannie’s burger which he devoured. He loves those burgers. And of course we had to take some of the award-winning buttertarts home. Excellent food and service as always.
We are Frannie’s regulars for a few good reasons. The service is warm and welcoming, the food is delicious, and the decor is always beautifully done. It’s one of our favourite breakfast spots. Plus, they have THE BEST buttertarts and key lime pie around. To die for. Thanks for the lovely breakfast yesterday and the birthday treat, too. All the best in 2026! (Dec 27/25)

Absolutely loved the food and the vibe here! Such a lovely spot, especially in the morning when it’s calm and peaceful. The hospitality was super warm and welcoming, which made the experience even better.
They have great options for vegetarians too, and I also tried a bakery item that was worth every penny. Really impressed overall — it’s a perfect place to enjoy a nice meal with family.
Located just outside Kitchener, surrounded by beautiful green farm fields, which makes it even more special. Highly recommend!

Frannie’s has the best buttertarts I’ve EVER had! Sweet, buttery, soft, silky center caramel delight! A symphony of sugar: from the caramelized outside to the more complex interior, where the consistency ranges depending on serving temperature. The crust is just enough to keep form, but soft, eggy, and wheaty enough to provide a light base and counterpoint for the sweetness! And, flavors! Deliciously curated: plain, pecan, raisin, salted caramel, Score Bar, and Reese’s Pieces. A roomful of Ontarians confirmed: best THEY’D ever had! I’m not surprised to hear Frannie’s won awards and is renowned among those who know. I’ve brought a dozen back to NYC, woefully deprived of this peak buttertart experience! People are realizing: we’ve never had actual Canadian buttertarts in NYC — and they’re incredible! Frannie’s neighborly customer service and simple delight in baking and spreading joy helped make this international order work. She gamely baked up a batch to travel to our Toronto party, and a special dozen to travel further down to NYC, where my foodie friends are gobsmacked with revelation and delight!

This is a charming little gem in the midst of the country. One of those “don’t blink” situations.
The décor is joyous, with flowers, motivational and/ or humorous posts, photos, and kids’ coloring posted up everywhere.
The staff is courteous and attentive – name your diet, they’ve got something to suit or they’ll happily adapt.
I’m having the turkey bacon avocado eggs Benedict. They swapped out the turkey bacon for a slab of the most flavorful tomato I’ve had in a while. It tastes local-grown, not hothouse and trucked in.
The egg is *exactly* how i asked – usually i get a hard-done egg and oh well. The egg Benedict itself is so light – not heavy at all.
The fried potatoes and smooth and creamy on the inside with crispy golden-brown bits where they stuck to the pan. They did need a boost of salt and hot sauce but that’s personal preference.
The fruit bowl is chilled and the fruit is peak ripeness.
I’m looking at the other diners and they are *focused* on their food – the fish and chips the couple at the next table is having looks lovely: golden brown and I can hear the batter crunching as they cut through it.
Definitely made it onto my “must come back” list

Truly a 5 star dining establishment; had the Cobb salad. It didn’t include blue cheese but instead a shredded cheese blend which I found to be equal if not an improvement. GF had the turkey with real craved turkey as illustrated in the attached captioned photos. Would definitely return the next time we pass through this area. Note: on the day we visited (Saturday) the restaurant closed at 15:00. Excellent service, excellent food; henceforth, the solid 5 star rating.

I had driven bt Frannies a few times and thought it looked like a cute country restaurant and bakery. Today, I stopped and went in for lunch at around 12:45. It was jammed so I perused the bake goods and by the looks of the homemade apple pie, that the food would be good too. I had the Ruben sandwich. Overall it was OK. IMO the meat tasted like it was grilled a bit first so a little oilier than necessary. I like lots of sauerkraut so I couldn’t really taste it really. 7/10 on the reuben. The staff was super friendly and service was good. The apple pie was the bomb! Fantastic. Not too sweet. Big thick slices of apple baked to perfect consistency. The sprinkles of sugar, cinnamon crumble (? )pulled the flavor all together perfectly! I will definitely return and try a lower cholesterol lunch item next time.

We just had the pleasure of stopping at Frannies for a quick slice of the key lime pie and the banoffee pie and OMG they were out of this world✈️ We sat outside on their cute intimate patio and it was perfect. Also the mile high apple pie looks insane might have to try that next! I would drive 30 minutes outside of Guelph for a slice of that banoffee pie any day. Might need to hit up Frannie for that recipe

Been here three times. From the road it is very easy to miss. If not for the news on TV, I would not have known this place existed yet I have drove past here a few times. Why the Christmas decorations are still out on the Super bowl weekend is beyond me. They are nice to see but the season is long gone. I like the breakfast better than the dinner. If you have a late breakfast you don’t get any beans!! I had a burger and the burger and fries were very dry. An extra $2.50 I was told for a slice of cheese No thanks. Monica the waitress never came back to ask how my meal was. There were only two other tables in there that night so it was not busy. Another couple had the fish and chips which looked nice. Wonderful country atmosphere. One morning I was there for breakfast and they had real country music playing. Not sure if it was the radio or a CD? The menu here is limited. The prices are a bit on the high side. 24 bucks for a turkey club? The bakery is great. I bought a coconut pie and some Reese’s squares. All very fresh and made in house. Some of the baked goods I have not seen anywhere before. Skor tarts. The place is busy at times. The one waitress I had for my last visit for breakfast was great. I never had to remind her of filling up my tea pot. I don’t recall her name though. I might try the fish and chips on the next visit. Hard to come here without going to the bakery. I gave 4 stars based on the prices and the last visit for supper.
