Beef tips combo was spectacular! Perfectly seasoned & hickory smoked full flavor goodness with solid bite served on a slice of bread. The sauce was wonderful just the right sweetness, with medium pour & subtle kick at the end.

You have to try the baked mac ‘n cheese, generous portion baked in cheesy tasty w a decent pull.

Home made slaw with sweet carrots & poppy dressing and the iconic potato salad were refreshing.

Add a can of soda for the classic bbq feel! Make sure to follow them to their new location. Next time I have to try the brisket.

I stopped at Frannie’s BBQ for dinner and I was very pleased!

Upon entering the restaurant I was a little weary. There were a few pool tables, some pinball machines, and a few tables scattered around the room. There was also a bar located further back near the kitchen. I sat at the bar. The female server was very prompt and friendly. I’m assuming she is Frannie. I asked what the restaurant’s specialties were and she mentioned pulled pork and chicken wings. I decided to go with the fried catfish, which comes in filets or nuggets. I also chose coleslaw as my side.

The restaurant appears to be a neighborhood favorite. While I was there a few other people came in to dine, and many people came in for takeout orders.

After waiting about 10-15 minutes the cook brought out my food. I must say the coleslaw was delicious, and the fried catfish was probably the best I’ve ever had. Very flavorful and crispy. My bill was about $15

I don’t live in Iowa, and don’t make it to Dubuque very often, but next time I’m in town I will remember that catfish.

She also told me about her brother’s food truck, near me in Minneapolis. I will be checking it out when I get a chance.

20$ for this small portion basket one catfish filled with fries & a can of Coke Cola PLUS waited over 45minutes for this food on a Saturday night when there was like 5 people in there at 5pm, server only came to table once & that was to take our order & then the food tasted like old grease & was crunchy hard! Not happy! Won’t go back!

Stopped in to check them out, and I enjoyed what I had. I ordered the wings and tip with baked beans. The wings were fried perfect and love the touch of lemon pepper on the wings. The tips were seasoned perfectly.. the beans were good as well, although just a little too sweet for my preference. Wish they had wine options to drink, considering I don’t drink beer. The owner was a perfect gem, I will be back.

I just recently moved to Iowa from the southeast where BBQ is king, so when my coworkers insisted I check out Boaz, I wasn’t sure it was going to live up to the hype.

It did. It absolutely did. I was stunned by how good everything tasted. The ribs were excellent – lots of flavor without being overly smoky. The peach baked beans – which I thought sounded a little gross when I first heard it – were incredible, and I don’t usually like baked beans. The mac and cheese had a fantastic baked crust on top just like mom used to make. Finally, I had the peach wrap, which I would describe as one of the best things I’ve ever eaten in my life. It was “lick the plate clean” good.

It’s not just the food. The owner is very welcoming and incredibly generous. If he makes a mistake, he makes it right and then some. Clearly he values repeat business and I can guarantee you he’s getting it from me.

I love this place!

The gentleman that owns Frannies is thoughtful and made the food from scratch. I’m picky with my fries but they were the right taste and texture! I would highly recommend it the conversation was great and the frozen strawberry lemonade was fantastic! Support a good BBQ establishment!

Amazing pulled pork sandwich, pork was Smokey and tender and came with crispy onions, pickles and slaw to top. The chicken wings were seasoned so well and fried to perfection. The potato salad and Mac and cheese were great as well, service was quick and very friendly! Sad I’m from out of town and won’t be able to try the rest of the menu. Definitely recommend Frannie’s to anyone looking for great bbq or a casual drink as their bar prices are good too!
