$40.60 not counting tip for a hot dog with onion rings and a fountain Coke and a Hamburger with cheese lettuce tomato pickle and ketchup mustard fries and a Dr. Pepper. Asked the waitress to give me an itemized bill while looking at the menu. She agreed my hot dog meal should be around $15. So I point at my 12 year old Son’s hamburger and ask so you are telling me with the toppings he requested on a hamburger that’s a $25 hamburger and fries? Lettuce tomato cheese and pickle…
The specialty burger options are $15 and change but if you build your own they wayyyy over charge. She replied ” I don’t agree with our pricing but that’s how it rings up. I love to support local food establishments but that’s ridiculous.

I think i overhyped this place for myself. The food was decent definitely not worth for the price point. I wasn’t a fan of the Philly sausage meal. I saw it came on a bun but it was served to me in a wrap. I wasn’t a fan of it in the wrap at all. I also had a Chicago dog it was good but the bun completely fell apart and same happened with my husband’s slaw dogs. Had the quality been a bit better I wouldn’t mind blowing $75 dollars for 3 adults and a child. Server was really nice and friendly tho!

I was impressed! If you want a big, juicy hot dog with all kinds of crazy toppings you can think of, this is your place. The fries were a bit mediocre and tasted off, but the coleslaw has a sweet taste to go along with the savoriness of the hot dog. I just had a classic chili dog, and they did not disappoint. Service could have been a little better though, waitressess barely checked on me at all.

Different take on your average hot dog. Burrito style. Nice little place. The food was good, not something I’d go out of my way for. But if you’re passing by, it’s worth the stop. Kinda pricey for what it is. Stopped on a Saturday around noon and we were the only customers.

Franks and Sammies is a very unique place in the Newark area. I tried the spicy chili cheese dog meal and thought it was good but not great. The only flavor I picked up was hotdog and hot sauce and it would have been nice to taste some of the cheese and chili as well. I would definitely come back and order something else and love the pictures on their menu online. Also, the onion rings were excellent!

This is the first time I have been here. Enjoyed a long day at Dawes, then shopped at Kix and as we came out the food smell hit us! We went in were greeted and seated. The place is pretty neat..the menu is simple and I went for the chili cheese dog in a wrap meal. First..the cost for two people to eat is less than $30. The next and most important was the food…it was great…fresh, chili wasn’t sweet, it was good..fries were fries..but are my favorite crinkle cut and the coleslaw was delicious. A great little place with great hotdogs!
