Our wait time was about 10–15 minutes, which was perfectly reasonable. Once seated, our waitress Hailey came over right away and got our drinks. However, throughout our visit she repeatedly returned asking if we were ready to order. I understand not wanting to forget about a table, but we were trying to catch up, and it began to feel rushed rather than attentive.
We shared the shrimp and catfish platter and were told they were out of French fries, with tater tots offered as the substitution. If we wanted any other side, there would be an upcharge — which was frustrating since fries normally come with the platter and they were out of them. One of my besties ordered the shrimp platter and didn’t want the substitute sides, so she asked if she could just get the shrimp at a reduced price, but that wasn’t an option.
When our food arrived, only part of the order came out. By the time the tater tots reached the table, the fish and shrimp were already cold.
The biggest disappointment was the mimosa flight, which includes four different flavors. My bestie explained she cannot have mango. The waitress suggested she smell each drink to figure out which one contained mango, which felt unsanitary and very off-putting.
Overall, this visit was very disappointing. Between the cold food, the side substitution issue, and the uncomfortable interaction regarding the drinks, it didn’t reflect the positive experiences I’ve had here before. I would only recommend this place for breakfast based on my prior visits. After this experience with our waitress and the overall service, it would not be my first choice going forward. I truly hope this was just an off day.
I had my eggs slightly scrambled with a side of grits and buttered toast. Talk about lick-your-chops good! I appreciate those cooks as well! Franks on Airline Baton Rouge never disappoints, and I’ll definitely be back.
