This place isn’t as cool as it once was. Used to have inexpensive sandwiches, and they were good. They tripled the price of everything at some point recently, an the sausage sandwich is just little bits of sausage you don’t even get enough to fill the length of the bun. The peppers/onions were mostly onions and were watery, and it soaked through the large bread roll in seconds.
I feel like the quality went down at the same time the prices went up.
Things are expensive, I get that, but almost $3 for a can of pop is just pushing it to the extreme. I can look past the sandwich price but a can of pop? That just seems greedy

Just go there and make sure you have cash! My fiance loves this place. I had never experienced it until a little over a year ago but it’s worth going there. The service is amazing, the food is amazing too. You can dine in or take it to go. The choice is yours. The staff is always so nice too. Definitely try it if you are in the area. You won’t be disappointed.

The hot dogs are yummy but they changed the hot sausage, they’re no longer tender so if anyone has dentures good luck! The onions weren’t tender either and some had a bit of a crunch which was gross. The skin on the hot sausage Is gross it was like biting into a balloon. Wasted money on it and couldn’t even finish it.

I have been goin to Frankie’s Hot dogs for years I love this place yesterday I took a friend there who has never been there. He said it was the worst hot dog he ever ate I had to agree we got there about quarter after 2:00 and the hot dogs we got look like they’ve been sitting on the grill for 4 hours. The girl that was waiting on us had no hustle and left you with the impression that she didn’t even want to be there

It you like simple old-school to the point foods. This place is just that. It’s been around since the 1940s, so I mean that should speak volumes. Grab and go or sit at eat. Either way, it’s a must. Even if it’s just to say you hit one of pittsburghs food spots. Tour guides charge people to take them here!. The only issue I had was that people were smoking at the bar area. That threw me off.

I used to love this place- I’ve been a customer for over 25 years but in the last couple years- not good at all, they changed the recipes on the hot sausage and meatball sandwiches, not as “mushy” as they used to be- which was a good thing, the onion & pepper mix is different also, large chucks that don’t seem to be cooked long enough, and the buns are now Mancini’s- they said the previous rolls were made by a company that went out of business, don’t get me wrong- I love Mancini’s but these are just too large for the sandwich. At least I wish they’d bring back the old recipes. I can’t comment on the kielbasi or hot dogs because I’ve never tried them.
