The steak for two special was truly outstanding — cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. We also enjoyed a couple of their hand-crafted cocktails, which were creative, flavorful, and perfectly matched to the meal.
The service was attentive without being intrusive, and the overall vibe of the restaurant made our night feel extra special. If you’re in the area I would highly recommended grabbing a table here.
We started with a shrimp appetizer that was beautifully executed, showcasing a lively range of flavors and a confident sense of balance. For the main course, I ordered the grilled trout. The fish itself was tender, delicately cooked, and full of flavor; however, the presence of several bones slightly disrupted the experience. Upon mentioning this, the staff responded with exceptional generosity and care, placing the trout on the house and offering a complimentary dessert of our choice.
We opted for the ice cream topped with white wine—an unexpectedly delightful combination that delivered a distinctive interplay of texture and flavor, and a memorable way to end the meal. While the trout’s preparation had a minor drawback, the restaurant’s gracious handling of the situation, combined with its strong cooking and impeccable service, left a lasting impression. Frankie’s is a place I would gladly return to, eager to explore more of the menu.
As new residents in Vermont — having recently made the big move from Portland, Oregon, where the food scene is vibrant and full of devoted foodies — we’ve been eager to explore what our new home state has to offer. This restaurant did not disappoint! It’s clear that Vermont has its own unique charm when it comes to dining, and this place is a perfect example of that.
Our server came by shortly after we were seated to welcome us and hand us the menus. While the menu isn’t extensive, it’s well-curated with enough variety for everyone to find something they love. Each dish felt thoughtfully composed, highlighting fresh ingredients and classic flavors with a local touch. We decided to start with a few appetizers, followed by our entrées, and of course, dessert to round out the evening.
The drinks were another highlight. The bar program here is impressive — our cocktails were balanced, creative, and beautifully presented. They also have an extensive list of spirits and liquors, making it a great spot for anyone who appreciates a well-crafted drink.
Everything we ordered was delicious and perfectly timed. The service was attentive and efficient without ever feeling rushed. We especially loved the steak and the swordfish — both were outstanding. The steak was tender, juicy, and cooked exactly to order, while the swordfish was flavorful and perfectly seared. I truly hope they keep that steak on the menu; it was a definite favorite.
Though we were absolutely full by the end of our entrées, we couldn’t resist ordering dessert — one of everything to share at the table. Each dessert was rich, satisfying, and the ideal sweet finish to an already wonderful meal.
What truly elevated the experience, though, was the warmth and hospitality of the entire team, and they also took the time to recognize the double birthday celebration at our table. From the hostess to the servers and bartender, everyone made us feel genuinely welcome. A special shoutout to Evelyn and Will, who were both personable, professional, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable evening.
All in all, it was an exceptional dining experience that exceeded our expectations — especially as newcomers to Vermont looking for a place that embodies the spirit of local cuisine. The combination of excellent food, top-notch service, and a cozy, inviting atmosphere has made this our new go-to spot for showcasing Vermont dining to our guests. We’re already looking forward to returning soon!
We got there a half hour early after returning from our day trip to Montreal. Front of the house handled it with aplomb, after initially telling us we would have to wait the half hour (bluntly, lol) we were seated 10 minutes later. Service was great, they had the waiter/server split that is typical of well run restaurants. Like Hen, Frankie’s faced the challenge of a farm to table dining in a New England winter with verve and vigor. The savory cabbage was nothing short of spectacular. Any visit here should require visits to both places. Final note, the cider options pair well with fish!
What an awesome welcome to Burlington tonight! Frankie’s comes with a nice lite vibe too!
I was welcomed by Ryan and then Kate at the bar.
My tastbuds danced with the lamb porchetta and acorn squash!! Wow!!
I will be checking out the menu at Frankie’s before any others, each night that I am here!!
And the food… our guests are still reaching out to tell us it was one of the best meals they’ve had in years. The family-style dinner was exactly what we hoped for; generous, thoughtful, and meant to be shared. Everything felt easy, special, and cared for from start to finish. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate.
