Frankie Rowlands Salem location has always been a great place for us to dine. We normally dine at least 5-7 times a year. Last time we dined the food was not up to par. My husband always orders the Ribeye. It’s normally cooked to perfection but this time it was terrible. The ribeye was burnt. I was super surprised they even let it leave the kitchen. My husband never complains so when he says its terrible, its terrible. They did replace it with a better looking steak, but definitely not their usual.(Pics below) My steak was overcooked. I always order med plus but it came out well done. It was still pretty good but had no char to it at all. Maybe this was just a bad night.It was four of us dining for my mother’s birthday so this was not a cheap bill. We spent $550+. Im not sure, but I may go again to let them redeem themselves. What really surprised me about the entire situation was that the manager never came over to say anything the entire time. We are normally always greeted by the manager. The wait staff was great and attentive.

We had a reservation and waited about 10 minutes for our table which worked out great because one of the girls in our party was a little late. The service was perfection, folks were very professional and knowledgeable. The food was amazing. Some had salmon with the bourbon pecan glaze, some had steak. That bourbon glaze, wow very flavorful. The sides are large portions and come separate from entree so we all got a little sample of each. Having lived in Atlanta for many years and coming back to VA, I was so disappointed with the restaurant choices here but I will def be going back to this restaurant. We all agreed to that! Very pleasant experience.

Great atmosphere in the bar. I wasn’t super stoked on the seating in the dining room but the food makes up for it. Oysters Rockefeller were so good I could have just ordered 3 orders of them and been totally happy! Absolutely delicious. Filet was really good. Potatoes were good as well. All of the staff are extremely friendly. Cheers to the bartender finishing his degree for elementary education! Great people! I enjoy the bar seating/ atmosphere at lot more than the dining room. Wife and I will Def be visiting again soon.

Came to Frankie’s to celebrate my moms birthday . Not only was the food amazing but the service was amazing. Chase truly made our experience special, with wonderful recommendations it was chase the made our night memorable. Will be back again and will definitely ask for Chase .

Not as good as expected. Obviously getting seafood in the mountains and expecting fresh was optimistic. Steak was cooked close to temp ordered but on the wrong side of the temp range. Overall value was 3 star.

We had a great dinner last night. Our server was amazing. Very attentive. Restaurant is nice.
Some confusion on the location. We had reservations, but didn’t realize we were at the wrong location.
Paid $20 to park, only to leave in 5 mins.
Hostess said it happens often.
Food was really good!! Drinks were good, but they were very slow coming out. Ordered seconds and we were almost done with our meals. (Which we heard from another server everything was taking a very long time last night. Which I’m sure with it being valentines)
Husband loved his steak. I got the pork with “apple chutney” .. I’m almost 99.9% sure it’s just canned apple filling. I love pork and apples.. just expected something alittle more , than pie filling. Everyone’s dish looked amazing.. then mine came out and looked sloppy.. more like a Cracker Barrel style plate. If it’s not canned apple pie filling, whomever is making the chutney, can make an identical canned filling. Lol
Pork chop was still delicious. I would just recommend a more upscale apple chutney for the style of restaurant.
Didn’t take pictures, we truly were just enjoying the night with friends.
The scallops were delicious. Cheese plate was fun.
Side: potatoes and scalloped potatoes were delicious. The Brussels had a very strong Smokey flavor. Not a big fan of.
The two that had drinks said they were good. Strong on the alcohol, if you like stronger drinks.

I have been eating at Frankie Rowland’s since the 90’s. The service has always been great and food outstanding. Last night, service was slow because we had a large party but my steak overcooked so bad I refused to except and the lobster tough and unexpectedly terrible and my server could not believe. The server had my steak reprepared and brought to me, After 2 hours of waiting for meal I don’t expect an overcooked steak, when new came I asked for it to be box and I brought it home.
This is not what I expect from Franky Rowland’s.

Ordered the 14 ounce filet and it didn’t disappoint. Wife ordered the same but a 10 ounce. She loved it! Had the 3 cheese platter as an appetizer and that too was exceptional especially the bacon spread. Only thing I would say is privacy is a slight issue if you want a private atmosphere for an anniversary. Tables on the exterior perimeter are bench style so you are close to others. Overall great place with a great meal. Ask for a private table if you are celebrating.
