Absolutely delicious food and wonderful service. Entrees are served with salad or soup. My salad was delicious, unique and such a generous portion. And the warm, freshly-baked roll with olive oil was an extra treat. I was very happy I ordered the grilled salmon with a tasty topping, served with rice and fresh vegetables. My only disappointment was I had no room for dessert. The dessert specials sounded fabulous!

This place deserves more recognition! We got there as it opened for an early dinner and we were greeted with a friendly staff and seated us right away (no reservations) – one of the greeters was their friendly dog! Afterwards we were introduced to the menu: being plant based, we were able to order so many meals, from starter to main course! We were so full at the end that we couldn’t order dessert, but I’m certain that the dessert menu would have been great! Overall, I recommend Frankie & Johnny’s to anyone, especially if your diet is plant-based considering they have vegan options being served (refer to my pictures).

Whether you’re a year-round resident or simply visiting/vacationing with family in Kennebunk, Wells, York, or any other surrounding town, join this wonderful family owned and operated restaurant in Cape Neddick/York Maine and you’ll be enjoying todays meal again tomorrow with some “fa-laters”. Portions are great, food is incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared for incredible combinations, and variations of everything from swordfish or salmon, to Sage Encrusted Tofu, to veggie grilled salads to pork chops specials, Vegan and vegetarian options are plentiful. Fresh baked rolls and a salad (like you’ve never seen before) arrive before the meal and their Caesar salad is unlike any other restaurants. While you’re deciding, you’ll likely have an opportunity to meet the owner and their daughters. My wife and I visit this restaurant at least 6-7 times a season in addition to anytime we have guests visiting. We’ve also made this our go to place for our evening dinner before our condo board meetings at the end of each season. Please go out of your way to visit this establishment and enjoy family meal surrounded by an even more awesome family- including the owners Chef John Shaw and his wife Thea. By the way, if you don’t have room for dessert, take some to go, or try harder to fit it in you won’t regret it. Be sure to make a reservation. It always helps them prepare for your arrival.

Eclectic, cozy little place located just as you head into Ogunquit downtown. Reservations are advised, as it was very busy. Customers were definitely having a fun time. It was a loud and festive atmosphere. The service team were working their tails off, hustling. Their specialty cocktails were creative and tasty. As for the food, it was evident that everything was scratch-made. This was mostly a positive for us, but not with all items. The bread was chewy & fresh. The Caesar came with my entree. A little odd that it had kale and spinach in it, not traditional. The chowder was a little watery and not memorable. The haddock entrees were both mediocre flavor-wise, but huge portions. The haddock both had to be 16oz. portions each and fresh. Potatoes were thin, bland and the haddock lacked flavor and seasoning. The hand-made pasta was dense & ate heavy. For entrees hovering $40 to $50 dollars, one would expect a little more finesse and attention to detail on the flavor. That being said, we have a lot of friends who love this place and we can see why. There are still many positives. Our experience was that the large-sized portions possibly masked the intended flavor. It wasn’t a home run for us. We did have fun though. No slight on the staff and the business, as they all were working hard and have a great reputation locally. I would recommend that people try this establishment. You might find it as a perfect fit.

This was hands down the best meal I’ve ever had! What a unique and fantastic eatery. The hospitality alone was enough of a reason to go back again. The food was so fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared. This is now a “must go” location for our yearly trip to Maine. But honestly, on any given day I’d drive the 1 hour and 45 minutes to eat there. Must try!

My husband and I went here on our honeymoon and the food was delicious! The reason I give it a 4 and not a 5 though is because the chef doesn’t like you to change the dish as it’s written in the menu. You couldn’t order a dish and ask for it without artichoke hearts, for example, you just have to take the dish as is, even if you really dislike artichoke hearts. But the dishes we got were delicious! We just had to eat around anything we weren’t fond of.

We were looking for a nice place to get a bite to eat, we walked in seeing if they had a table. I didn’t expect to find such an exquisite dining experience. Casual atmosphere with a chatty clientele, all have nothing but high praise for the food. But the food… varied, and all excellent, each dish was at the height of flavor, with no shortcuts. It is obvious the chef cares about the food, and the love comes through with every bite.

It was apparent every regular, and everyone who works there loves the food, and I do too

Let me tell you, If you could only have seafood once a year, Frankie & Johnny’s is no doubt your destination! They take great pride in the preparation of their food and it shows with each and every bite. My tastebuds can attest to this! Even if seafood isn’t for you, their menu has an assortment of delicious meals. I went with the seafood scampi, but understand I was also looking at the pork across the way! Everything just looked so good that our party of 7 was giving out samples to each other. It’s the real deal.

Aside from the food, Frankie & Johnny’s set up is very comfortable. It’s as if they’ve invited you into their well kept luxurious home. As we all know, HOMECOOKED MEALS ARE THE BEST! When it comes to deciding if you’re going to Frankie & Johnny’s, don’t question, just GO! You won’t regret it.

Love, love, love this place. Everything is sooo good. The fish is fresh, anything with vegetables is fresh whatever is in season, the servings are substantial. Delicious soup or a fabulous salad with all the entrees.
Lucked out twice stopping by without a reservation, but certainly will make sure in the future to make a reservation.
Lots of great places in Ogunquit, but they are at the top!
