The food, was really quite bland. The ingredients don’t taste like they have a flavor or seasoning at all.
I had to add so many things to get it to have any flavor, mustard, salt, oil and vinegar and even still, it was not enough. The meat is cut so thinly which is fantastic, but no real taste. I was so disappointed in the lack of flavor, as I really wanted and want to like this place.
The location is fantastic and I wish I could say the food is worth coming back for.
If you’re looking for a cute place to sit, this is it. But flavor is really quite lacking.
The Experience:
The Entry: I was greeted outside by a staff member who asked if I was dining in or taking out. After saying “take-out,” he let me in and handed me a menu. So far, so good.
The Wait: I spent 10 minutes waiting in line, only to be met with a pretty cold reception.
The Service: There was no “Welcome” or “Good afternoon.” Instead, the first words out of the cashier’s mouth were: “If you are ordering a sandwich, it’s a 45-minute to 1-hour wait.”
The Takeaway:
While I understand this is a new opening and the “influencer” crowd is out in full force, the customer service was severely lacking. There were no quick-service or prepared options offered as an alternative to the long wait—just a “take it or leave it” attitude.
My Advice:
Plan better and execute better. If you know the wait is an hour, maybe have that conversation at the door rather than after someone has already stood in line. I hope to come back much later down the road once the hype dies down and the service side is figured out.
Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch, picking up provisions for the weekend, or just popping in for a coffee, this place delivers every single time. The sandwiches are stacked right, the market selection is curated (not cluttered), and there’s a warmth to the whole experience that you just can’t manufacture.
If you live in the Gables and haven’t been here yet, do yourself a favor. And if you’re just passing through ,it’s worth the detour. Five stars, no hesitation.
dry goods, and some terrific pastries. The staff is kind and knowledgeable.
If you’re in the gables I highly recommend passing through.
