Saw on CBS. Original Frank Pepe is on Wooster St in New Haven, CT
We’re from North Carolina Mountains.
We finally made it here while working in the area. I came in one afternoon, hoping for just a piece of pizza for lunch. Galilea started talking with me at the front counter and offered the lunch special which sounds awesome, but I wasn’t ready for all that food myself. She was so sweet that I promised her that I’d be back with my husband. Luisia, Galilea & Msgana are excellent Servers.
We got a medium sized pie with meatball, mushrooms and green peppers. The ratio of ingredients was perfect. We also both ate all the crust, which is a sign to both of us that the pizza quality is perfect.
We also opted for dessert to split….. We decided to try the Tiramisu. Perfect!!!
We will definitely be back!!!!
Pizza is outstanding.
The flavor just keeps you wanting to eat more than you normally would.

Amazing hand made pizza pies in a traditional coal fired stone oven. They offer a 3-pie special from the specialty menu that is A HUGE AMOUNT of pizza. Pro tip: Order the Amanti Della Carne and add Hot Cherry Peppers. This pie is full of meats, tomatoes, sausage, bacon and a little heat. Great servers, chefs, location!

I love pizza, but sorry Frank Pepe you failed on this one. Pizza took forever I guess that’s why it’s burnt. They forgot about it and it taste like cardboard. School pizza is better. Do yourself a favor go to Milano’s pizza ( shady grove or Rockville )

The pizza was very good, somewhat more charred than I like but great dough… they cut it in 16 slices that I consider ridiculous and does not help keeping the slices straight.
We will be back… with instructions!

Last minute decision to stop in for dinner. Even though I didn’t have a reservation they were able to seat me after a short wait. The pizza was delicious and their dessert options are amazing, try the cannoli pie. If you have the opportunity, eat here.

I ordered the Margherita pizza with garlic and pepperoni. The pizza was good, but the flavors didn’t blend well for some reason. I’ll have to try it again without the garlic to see if that’s better. My dining mate wanted the garlic. And I would’ve had mozzarella covering the pizza with the fresh mozzarella on top of that.

Although the pizza was delicious, the booth could have been cleaner. The tables and booths need to be thoroughly cleaned and not rushed. Too many germs to not take it seriously. Maybe the flies wouldn’t be around if true cleaning was done, but the staff was nice for the most part. No issues with staff. It wasnt too crowded either which was nice. Just please, for the sake of sanitation, clean the tables for real. There should be no dust or food crumbs present for a new party.

I visited Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana today around noon and I was truly impressed by the outstanding service. The young lady who waited on us was absolutely amazing, so kind, attentive, and professional. She was working completely on her own, handling every table and customer in the restaurant, yet she did not miss a beat. Every order was taken with care, every guest was greeted with a smile, and she made sure everyone was happy.

In a time when good service is hard to come by, she really stood out. The food was delicious as always, but her positive attitude and work ethic made the experience exceptional. She deserves recognition for the way she handled it all with grace and warmth.

I will definitely be back, not just for the great pizza but for the amazing service.

I’ve been to Italy and have tried real Italian pizza. Brick oven and the whole deal. This pizza is the only one I’ve tasted outside of Italy that was almost identical in flavor. The ingredients were fresh. The pizza had a crispy crust and was not soggy even after re rest being left in the fridge and reheated. Still crispy. Overall the only complaint is that the prices are really high. I paid almost 60 bucks not including tip for just 2 medium pizzas

After living in New York for 5 years, Frank Pepe has been my go to for better pizza in the DMV and I have recommended it to many friends. I love the shrimp pizza and the crust is on point. However, this past Friday night I had a different experience. I ate half a “Pepe’s Italian Salad”, which was not fresh and I wish I never ate it. The tomatoes were soft, cucumbers floppy, and mixed greens wilted. While I was digesting, my stomach began to feel awful. I had food poisoning that lasted 48hrs. My husband called and spoke to the manager about my food poisoning and the manager responded, “I’m sorry to hear that,” and proceeded to hang up on my husband. If we were met with greater professionalism, communication, and consideration, I may have a more positive opinion. But after this experience, I am left with an extremely poor taste of Frank Pepe and will not be returning. It is very evident Frank Pepe needs better quality control of their fresh produce items, as well as better customer relations.
