Frank Pepe Pizzeria (est. 1925) is home to white clam pizza and one of the oldest and best-known pizzerias in the country. The Wooster St. legend is home to white clam pizza and one of the world’s oldest and most famous pizzerias. Known locally as Pepe’s (pep-eez), it has its Original Location in the Wooster Square neighborhood of New Haven, CT. Today, there are 16 additional locations across CT, MA, RI, NY, MD, VA, and FL. Frank Pepe knew in 1925 that only coal burns hot and dry and doesn’t give off steam like a wood fire. He knew that only a coal fire could give his “tomato pies” their famous crisp, charred, chewy crust.

Casual local pizzeria chain serving a menu of coal-fired pies, beer & wine since 1925.

We love this brand pizzeria! We’ve been to all on CT and finding out they opened one in NoVa was a big highlight for my husband and I and it did not disappoint! We ordered two small different pies: chicken and bacon and a sausage. Oh my! D E L I S H! Served warm and just perfect. The pizza/oven attendants were very gracious and smiling; the waitress, Jessie, was friendly and kind and the place was spic and span. We asked about gatherings and they have another room in the back and a side door for carryout as well. The decor is exactly as all Pepe’s and we felt right at home. If you are from CT and/or have been to Pepe’s you will definitely like it here. And if you haven’t tried a Pepe’s pizza come on down for a treat.

We’ve been going here for pizza for about a year now and really love it. The coal fired pizza oven is amazing, just like similar pizza we’ve had in NYC. There’s just an extra something special about pizza baked this way, you have to try it. I’m sure you’ll agree.

Pizza is very good here! Had a pepperoni and a clam pizza both were very good. Crust is very good. And no it’s not burned! Lol. Very nice people. Some of the best pizza in the area no question.

The only reason this stays a 5 is because the kitchen staff was putting out flawless product and that coal oven is an absolute monument to great food. The Doppio Pepperoni was phenomenal. The downside is my lady and I had to end up sharing my water because refills were ignored and we saw the server to order, receive our food and to pay.

Very quick service and ample seating. The crust of this pizza is thin so if your pizza has a lot of toppings it feels like a bread bowl soup rather than a pizza. I like the different flavor options they have. Boyfriend went with the Shrimp which was very different but very flavorful. I went with the veggie which I did not like since it has too many toppings and it felt soggy. I would try this place again but now it’s ok. I wish the crust was more durable and thick.

Frank Pepe pizza was just like the New Haven pizza! Thin crust with just the right amount of crunch! Def recommend the pep and sausage pizza! And the cream soda! And the cannoli pie was a great dessert! Fuego approved

Great pizza! Traditional style and made with great ingredients, delicious sauces in a wood oven! We have different flavors and we like most of them. The gorgonzola with mushrooms and the shrimp are our favorites! The only complaint is that they don’t have the limoncello desert anymore!

Hit or miss coming out of the oven…sometimes too much char and whole pizza has bitter taste as a result.
