Great spot for upscale Mexican food in Lake Stevens. The atmosphere is welcoming, service is solid, and the food is consistently good. The steak and lobster specials are a highlight, and the full bar is a nice touch. Easy place to recommend for a relaxed dinner or a nicer night out without feeling over the top.
If in the area, it is a great place to grab a bite.
My wife and I came in for dinner. Ordered coconut shrimp appetizer, chicken nachos, fish tacos and a Caesar salad.
5 minutes after food comes, waiter comes in and asks how is the food, we automatically say good as we haven’t touched anything but the nachos yet.
-The fish in the tacos were soft and flavorless and so was the cabbage with a touch of mayo. When I say these were the saddest, flavorless ANY taco we’ve ever had, I mean it. It came with black beans that were so salty if you threw it in a bathtub I could float in it. Then plain, and I mean PLAIN white rice.
-The Caesar salad had 4 croutons in it and was drenched in dollar store watery Caesar dressing.
I asked the waiter to come over and explained the situation politely. 7/8 of my Caesar was still there and 1 out of 3 tacos were there and all the beans and rice. She asked me to have a taco to confirm. (These are small) I told him everything without insults, not like I’m doing here.
He says: You should of told me the first time I came by, I said, you came by 5 minutes in and the food is still here, I don’t want anything free, I just want you to hear me. He says you said it was fine the first time I came by so… I said, I just want feedback for whoever it matters to and I don’t want anything free. He says well I appreciate that, and walks away. He takes our almost full plates away and then brings us a full bill. We paid and I reluctantly tipped. Arguing with us especially when we were being ridiculously nice is disgusting. I hope this isn’t directions from management to do this. He needs to learn how to treat people.
Will definitely return for dinner to try some of their steaks!
We ordered the guacamole appetizer. It was dressed with feta and fresh cranberries. Served with large round corn tortilla chips. It was the best guacamole that I have ever had. Most guacamole has the overwhelming taste of cilantro. This one did not. The chips were good as well!
We also had the coconut shrimp appetizer with a citrus sauce. The sauce paired well with the shrimp. It was delicious.
We also ordered the Caesar Salad and the French onion soup combo. It was very good!
We chose to sit outside. The weather was glorious. The area is right on the side of the main street and it did at times get a little noisy but it was overall pleasant eating outside.
The restaurant appeared to be clean and organized! Our waitress was very nice and helpful with suggestion and answers to questions.
I am by myself so I am fine sitting at their bar stool, actually tall chair to be specific. I briefly look at the menu and quickly determined my simple yet fulfilled dinner, a vegetable soup that is made in house and a halibut fish and chips. The bar turn around was really fantastic, there were 14 taps for beer if I wasn’t driving after I would have a pint already. My food was presented to me 8 min later, it was hot and fresh, I love the fact that their vegetable wasn’t fully cooked by it is in a hot soup and hot bowl so the remaining temperature of the bowl exchange heat with the vegetable and slowly cook it to desired temperature.
The fish and chip blow my mind how big a portion it is, 3 piece of halibut, really huge plate. Fries was cooked just enough to drizzle with salt and crisp enough to not feeling too dry.
The whole environment is so friendly, very family oriented yet you can have a regular post business meeting in there, it has sports playing on tv but no one is cheering. So much love to local diner places, always a good chance to come back again.
