We started with the roasted prawns for appetizers — perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. For mains, we had the lobster rolls and steak. The steak was incredibly tender, cooked to perfection, and full of flavor. The fries were crispy on the outside, buttery and soft on the inside — absolutely addictive.
They also offer a great happy hour before 5 PM with 25% off appetizers and highballs. I wish they had a bigger place. 10/10 experience.
We ordered the tuna tartare, cheese puffs, ham & chips, steak frites, chocolate mousse and french toast.
We loved the steak and the sauce is my favorite, tho it might be a bit salty for some ppl. I think it pairs really well with wine. It was so tender. The french toast was another pleasant surprise! The added comte cheese and ice cream gave it a lovely extra layer of flavor and the little bit of burnt toast combined with it was just perfect! The tuna tartare would be even better if it were a little less sour, since the lime somewhat overpowers the flavor of the tuna. The steak and french toast were our favourite but all of the dishes were great!
Tuna Tartare, Little Gem Salad, Steam Burgers, Steak Frites, Citrus & cognac parfait, salted chocolate mouse all favorites – until I have to update my list next time!
Start with the cheesy puffs with parm foam. Completely non-negotiable. You don’t order one for the table — you order one per person. Anything less feels incorrect. Light, savory, wildly addictive. It should be treated as a ritual.
We ordered the beet salad on recommendation and it was excellent — a really smart balance of textures and flavors with bright acidity, earthy sweetness, and just enough savory depth to keep it interesting without feeling heavy or overworked.
The chips with ham were one of the most unexpectedly good bites of the night. Served cold, slightly sweet, salty, crisp — strange in theory, perfect in execution. The kind of dish you don’t stop thinking about once it’s gone.
The lobster dish was another standout. The lobster meat had a subtle lemongrass note, while the mint slaw added freshness and lift. Together they were incredibly balanced — rich but clean, bright without being sharp.
Steak À La Francine was cooked perfectly, a beautiful pink inside, and the sauce deserves its own moment. Deeply savory and comforting, like a rich, wine-forward beef gravy that nods to beef bourguignon without feeling heavy, or dated.
One detail I really loved was the use of upcycled fine china for the plates — it adds so much character and makes the whole experience feel intentional and personal rather than generic.
Trust their amazing service staff, order with curiosity, and don’t skip the cheesy puffs.
Francine’s is so good it’s stupid. Like, if I moved away from Calgary, it’d be the one place I’d have to eat at whenever I visited. Garrett Martin has really goobered up my taste buds, and I’m not sure if I’ll be able to sleep laying in bed yearning for more Steak a la Francine, more tuna tartare, and much more semifredo.
Go here. Do yourself a favor. Eat a little burger. Drink a little cocktail. Laugh with someone you love. You deserve it. Parfaite.
