We areived around 5:00 pm without reservations, but we had our choice of tables as they weren’t very crowded. The hostess promptly seated us and told us that since tonight was Thursday it was 2 for 1 risotto night. According to our server they also offer 2 for 1 pasta night on Tuesdays, and 2 for 1 pizza on other nights (I can’t remember which nights), as well as 2 for 1 cocktails on the rooftop at least one other night of the week.
I looked over the risotto menu and the chicken, spinach, and mushroom risotto looked worth trying. Stacy wasn’t in the mood for risotto so she ordered the chicken picatta. I asked our server if I could have the second risotto to go and he said no problem, but he apologetically informed me that it would be 19 pesos for a “to go” container. This didn’t bother me at all and at 2 for 1 it was still an excellent deal.
Before we recieved our meals we were served hot bread with butter, parmesan, and an excellent olive oil dipping sauce.
The risotto was delicious. It had the perfect blend of spinach, chicken, mushroom and cheese. It was a large potionand I struggled to finish, but it was so good I managed. If I had one minor complaint, I like my risotto a little more cooked (less al dente), but this is a personal preference so I don’t blame the restaurant.
Stacy had the chicken picatta and she raved about it. The chicken was delicious and tender, the sauce was lemony and flavorful, there were plenty of capers, and her lasta was cooked perfectly. She said it was the best meal she had had in quite a while.
We decided to split the panna cotta, which was served with a red berry topping and a drizzle of locor de casis. The flavor was delicious, and while I prefer my panna cotta a little lighter (this one was pretty dense), it was still really good.
The service was excellent. Our server spoke very little English but he was friendly, attentive, and checked up on us a couple of times during our meal (I find that a rarity in many SMA restaurants).
We were very pleased with our meal and we woll definitely be going back soon.
