Best NY Style Pizza in R.I.! Dave Portnoy, Barstool Sports Rated 8.1- How ? Why? Let us tell you. The key component to Francesco’s secret dough recipe is the imported Antimo Caputo “00” flour. The “00” refers to the texture of the flour, “00” is the finest grind available for flour. The fine grind produces a crunchy and crisp pizza crust without being rubbery, and produces just the right amount of puff on the edges. This soft and flavorful flour is created from top-quality, all-natural soft flour that has been milled slowly and delicately for the perfect slice!

Barstool Pizza Review – Francesco’s Pizzeria (Providence, RI)

After Francesco’s put up a sign and made shirts declaring “We Want Portnoy” they got him, but not without a scoring controversy.

We tried the G.O.A.T pizza which was AMAZING. The pizza consisted of red sauce, cow’s cheese, goat cheese, onion, and honey, which was something I never experienced before but was more than pleasantly surprised. Cashier was nice. This place isn’t really made for dining in but they do have three benches outside with built in tables. Overall this was a great find during my first visit to Providence.

Pretty good pizza, Dave’s rating checks out. Good ratio of crust:cheese:toppings. Service was a little slow despite being the only people inside. The wings were supposed to be buffalo but did not look or taste it. Would recommend the pizza but not the wings as much.

Hands down one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. Super fast friendly and absolutely delicious. The cheese isn’t over done and the crust is perfect. Light but a little chew and plenty of crunch. Will definitely be back every time I’m in Providence.

Yummiest pizza I’ve had in my life. First I ate the BBQ but now I’ve been eating the General Tsao (?) flavor. They also have a deal where if you order 3 slices, you get a free drink! So I order 1 slice and my stepdad orders 2 and then gets sodaaa

Overall good, and nice reading material (about the restaurant) on the walls while you wait

First time ever going to the pizza place in 22 years of my life of living in Rhode Island and it’s a very crowded cute cozy place just on the nook off of Hope Street. The people that come in are less far than pleasant. Unfortunately, most of highschoolers college students go here which is so good for the economy. The pizza is over really good especially with the honey drizzle and the pepperoni of course is a great combination. First time is then we go here for quick snack or break.

Small, quaint pizzeria located near downtown Providence. No sit down area, so take out only. Pizza was decent, but not sure what the buzz is about. Called an hour before pick up time, and yet the pizzas were still late by 20 minutes. Couple of the teenagers working there were fighting over who’s supposed to do what. Hard to find parking on a surprisingly busy side street. Not exactly a good experience.

I ordered a cheeseburger calzone online, when I got to the place they said they had to remake – a little inconvenient, no problem. 30 min later I pick it up and get home to find it burnt on the bottom and undercooked. The calzone was very heavy and fell apart while trying to eat, dough too thin and chewy and bacon undercooked. Overall it severely lacked in taste. I waited an hour and I could only get through a few bites before I lost my appetite. First and last time visiting

It was busy but I ordered inside. 4 slices and a medium pie with fried dough. It took about an hour. I was told the wait would be 25 minutes. The slices didn’t look fresh and a little burnt. The medium was not bad and the fried dough took some chewing to break it down. I will not come here again.

Take out only. Thank goodness I won this pizza bc is it totally not worth $18. I got their specialty The Honey Bear which is a red sauce pizza with bacon, pepperoni, ricotta cheese and Mike’s hot honey. The pizza was undercooked with some raw dough towards the center of the pizza, under the cheese because it was not as thin as NYC pizza. The dough was tasteless and too fluffy without the chew. I could not detect any honey and if there was, they didn’t put enough. Overall, the pizza tasted like a franchise pizza chain restaurant. Jan 2025

Folks who deliver through a service need to stop blaming Francesco’s for the temperature of the pizza. They are not responsible for the timing of deliveries—the app you choose makes that determination. Now, that being said, this is a real family owned Italian American corner pizza place just like you’d find in NYC or Brooklyn. Mom, son, wife, they all take part. The pizza sauce is homemade, tangy and bright like a New York slice with a thin crisp crust that has a nice crusty bread taste. YES—they have vegan cheese! YES—they have gluten free pizza. I suggest stopping in for a slice—no tables inside but there are benches on the sidewalk. Otherwise order a pizza to go and pick it up yourself, and say hi to the folks who work there. Small businesses like this are one of the last places we can really build a sense of community and support—a place like this has honest prices and good food (I have to try the homemade meatballs!) and is worthy of the community gathering around to support them!
