We’ve tried the pizza a few times & as much as I love the place it tastes like freezer burnt cheese. I’m not sure why but def our opinion. Everything else has always been GREAT!
First impressions include that the place is really easy to miss if you’re not looking for it. On my first trip down Rockingham Road I drove right past it, assuming it was just another house in the area. Through my Google Maps I realized my error and quickly doubled back and parked in the lot behind the place. No judgement against the place in mentioning any of this – it’s clearly labeled on both sides of the building and on closer inspection blends right into the neighborhood.
The interior is not exactly what I was inspecting. The bar and bar stools seemed really new, especially the stools – leather or a close approximation, very comfortable! The floors were mostly covered with a newish looking 1-foot square light ceramic tile, while the ceiling was solid and painted red. Lighting was provided by a combination of suspended fixtures and string lights above the bar, in addition to the neon beer signs and natural light through the windows and doors. The place has all the hallmarks of a nice, hole-in-the-wall community joint. I both liked it, but definitely felt out of place immediately.
Regardless of this feeling, the bartender was nice and set me up quickly with a soda and took my food order. I chose the Inferno Burger, which is topped with pepperjack cheese, bacon, chipotle mayo, and fried pickled jalapenos. I enjoyed the burger – it was comparable to many other burgers of its type in the area. Something I’d definitely come back for if I lived closer to Frackie’s.
The ambiance of Frackie’s is definitely something I’d go for if it were closer to home. No music was playing this morning, just the sound from one of the TVs playing at the bar and people talking. It really is a community place – people come in to hang out and know who everyone is when they come in. I enjoyed it, even though I was definitely not a part of the community.
If you live in this part of west Davenport, consider giving Frackie’s a try. The rest of their menu looks pretty solid. I’d especially like to come back on a Tuesday to try the tacos. Thanks, Frackie’s!
