We definitely recommend trying the Pani Puri, Cauliflower Koliwada. For main entrees our favorite was the butter chicken and Shaam Savera Kofta. Don’t miss the tres leches for desert!
From everything the service to food to ambiance, this restaurant gave us such an amazing experience- one we will remember forever. Can’t recommend visiting this place enough.
They also have a second location, Dhamaal, in Montclair.
Every dish reflected the chefs’ passion and precision. The jackfruit lettuce wrap was refreshing and flavorful. The beetroot galouti kebab was silky smooth with rich, earthy notes. The kharda chicken tikka was juicy with just the right spice level, while the pili mirch paneer tikka was perfectly charred and soft inside.
The sham savera kofta was indulgent and beautifully balanced, and the mushroom chettinad had layers of bold, aromatic spices that stood out. The garlic naans were warm and buttery, complementing the mains perfectly.
To finish, the tiramisu in bloom was creative and refined, the casata ice cream creamy and satisfying, and the chai tres leches was a unique dessert that showcased real culinary innovation. The chefs at Four Monkeys deserve high praise for crafting such an outstanding dining experience.
The food did not meet our expectations at all. The pani puri was the worst I’ve ever had — the flavors were completely off. None of us in our group enjoyed the daal either; it had an overwhelming tomato taste that overpowered everything else.
On top of that, the service made the experience even less pleasant. The servers seemed to be in a rush to clean up our table, which made us feel hurried and uncomfortable instead of relaxed and welcomed.
If you’re a true foodie looking for authentic and flavorful Indian cuisine, this is not the place I would recommend.
they served really nice, servers are very friendly and they suggested us dishes considering our allergies! Mr Pankaj and Mr Clyde served us. Dessert was amazing as well.. definitely worth the hype! Must visit in NJ!!!
The food was truly the highlight and speaks volumes about the talent in the kitchen. The jackfruit lettuce wrap was fresh and vibrant, while the beetroot galouti kebab was delicately spiced and melt-in-the-mouth. The kharda chicken tikka had a bold, authentic punch, and the pili mirch paneer tikka was smoky and perfectly cooked.
The sham savera kofta was rich and comforting, and the mushroom chettinad was deeply flavorful with beautifully layered spices. The garlic naans were soft and fragrant, tying the meal together perfectly.
Desserts were exceptional — the tiramisu in bloom was elegant and beautifully plated, the casata ice cream added a nostalgic touch, and the chai tres leches was a delightful fusion masterpiece. The chefs deserve tremendous appreciation for their artistry, balance of flavors, and attention to detail in every dish
Negatives: the avocado bhel was average, too mushy for my liking. The masala tostones did not hit the spot for me- the toppings were cold and the raw onion got old very fast. The lamb kheema had an overwhelming saffron flavor..I guess if you like saffron you would enjoy this. The butterscotch rasmalai was underwhelming-could barely taste the butterscotch flavor.
The apps could be slightly bigger, the mains slightly smaller.
Apps:
The cauliflower koliwada was ok, cooled too quickly.
Flavor bomb burrata was amazing – rich like a spicy honey on top of naan and the cool burrata. Doesn’t warm well, eat it fresh.
They were out of the truffle chicken masala.
Butter chicken and palak paneer were both rich and delicious, great to put on the rice or the naan.
The ‘Rarha’ Lamb Chops were ok, overcooked until the bone crumbled and tough to cut.The mustard-tumeric potatoes were very good but heavy.
The night was filled with dropped items – customers knocked over their table lights, dishes fell, glasses broke – I felt like it was a Jewish wedding with all the wares falling on the floor mid-way through dinner.
BYOB.
