It was surprising but they had a pretty big menu for a small kitchen. OK so the shakes were fabulous and very tasty!!! The food was fresh and pretty tasty with their special sauce and stuff!!! Prices were fair and the staff workers were friendly. Nice and sunny location. Americans please come on down!!!!!

This place is cash only. Recommend the Oreo vanilla malt shake if you don’t know what to order! There’s an ATM machine inside if you need to take out cash. They have four sizes of cups junior, small, medium, and large.

We went because my 85 year old Dad remembered FF had great shakes. FF was founded in 1946 and this may be one of original locations. The service was good and we enjoyed our shakes.

I loved them until they started being Petty with their corn burrito sauce. It makes me wonder if the business decisions around the sauce were worth losing the customers you know.

I recently stopped by Foster Freeze in Ventura with my nephew and mom, excited for a classic lunch featuring burgers, fries, and of course, ice cream. However, our experience fell short of expectations, resulting in a 2 1/2 star review.

Foster Freeze, once a beloved walk-up counter service establishment near Ventura College, seems to have undergone changes that impacted the overall dining experience. Gone are the tables and benches where patrons could sit and enjoy their meals, and even the small inside dining room has been closed off.

To make matters worse, the cashier we encountered was rude and unhelpful. When asked about customer restrooms, which they do have, we were abruptly told they were not available for use. Additionally, when inquired about the closed dining room, the response was dismissive, stating it was simply “locked.”

The prices have soared to unreasonable levels, with our simple order of two burgers, a kid’s hotdog, fries, and drinks totaling almost $40. Considering the lack of seating and poor customer service, this price point was unjustifiable.

While the food itself wasn’t terrible, it certainly didn’t meet the mark of excellence. The hotdog my nephew received was disappointingly small compared to the bun, and my burger was overshadowed by an oversized bun with scanty meat. The saving grace was the fries, which were decent. Sadly, we didn’t even get to sample their famed ice cream due to the absence of seating.

Foster Freeze seems to rely heavily on its reputation, but our recent visit left much to be desired. It’s evident that improvements are needed in areas such as customer service, pricing, and overall dining experience. As a result, I doubt I’ll be returning anytime soon unless significant changes are made. Foster Freeze, it’s time to step up your game and deliver the quality experience your customers deserve.

The last time I went here a few years ago it was awful but this time it was absolutely amazing. I am pretty sure that there must be a new owner because the service was great and the food was fresh. I got corn burritos which were PERFECTION. They had what I think was a tomato based sauce that was tasty and a generous amount of cheese. I also got a really good peach shake with bits of real peach.

Very small but lots of seating. They charge for sauce 27 cents. The food was very fast and the milkshakes are amazing. Never disappoints. Kinda tastes like in n out. Crinkle Fries are amazing.

Place was good and clean. Just ran down. You can tell you’re not as busy as they once were. That being said, their ice cream is delicious and reminds me of my childhood. Hamburgers are good ingredients. All taste fresh fries were hot and crispy. Good place to go if you have an old car and take a picture

Update; Nickel & Dime Alert; In addition to increasing prices, now simple extras which have been free or low cost for decades are between 50c & $2.00.

Management is running this classic spot into the ground.

Family decided we needed shakes today. The Chef got a large Banana shake, the Senior Citizen got a small pineapple, and Pops got a small cherry. Trying to help a local small business stay open. #805local
