The food here is so much wonderful! The staff is super friendly and the pork and the chicken was so excellent. Love the soups and fried rice!! I’ve tried has been top-notch. Me and my friends are going to take it as our best dinner restaurant!! I feel so lucky that we found it!

My wife and I found out about Dating Yummy a few years ago when our friend who lived in Shanghai China before who was visiting and wanted to find authentic Chinese food and dumplings. We loved this restaurant particularly the YuShan Eggplant and MaPo tofu.

We had noticed that the restaurant had changed names and the menu had removed these items a month or so ago and were disappointed. Tonight we were looking to get takeout and noticed the name and old menu had been restored. We were excited to have our favorites again but were quickly disappointed.

First when I picked up the food I was told that they did not have a lot of MaPo tofu but that they gave me what they had and gave me a $5 bill back…weird.

Then I got home and looked at the food and could tell right away that it was not right. The MaPo tofu had peas and carrots that were obviously from frozen and def not in traditional Chinese MaPo tofu. The eggplant was mostly bell pepper and odd pickled vegetables with very little actual eggplant. The crab cheese wantons were dry and flavorless.

We were very upset after spending $50 on food that we could not stomach to finish after a few bites. I threw the food away.

I decided to call and request a refund. The new owner was very hostile. I tried to be nice and just said the food was not what we expected and that we could not eat it as it did not taste right that we would like a refund. He raised his voice and was angry and kept insisting the recipes had not changed and asking when was the last time we ate there. He insisted that I drive the food back so he could look at it and maybe he would give a refund. I told him I threw the food away and would not spend another 30 minutes
total in the car to drive back there.

Even if I was in the wrong, the new owner was insulting and never made any attempt to listen to my concerns. I stated that MaPo tofu does not have peas and carrots. He responded stating “this is traditional Chinese, not Americanized.” The man is gaslighting me because I knew this is not true as I have had this dish at other restaurants for years and it never included vegetables. I looked it up apparently ONLY Americanized versions of this dish have peas and carrots.

I will be filing a dispute with my credit card company for a chargeback. It is completely unacceptable to treat customers this way.

Two thumbs down.

Good food at a reasonable price. The service was great and the waitress was very friendly. It is an unassuming little restaurant that seemed more popular for takeout than dine in.

I sat down and ordered the Scallion Pancake, the Pork Soup Dumplings, Beef Lo Mein with Black Pepper and the Twice Cooked Pork.

We enjoyed our meal “family style” which was great because every dish came out as it was prepared. Nothing was stand out but everything was acceptable.

The menu has sushi, however, they no longer offer that.

The restaurant was clean, though it is clear some repairs are still needed. I ordered the combination Lo Mein, fried chicken dumplings and Pu pu platter for 2. The fried dumplings were hot and fresh with good sauce. Spring rolls and crab ragoon in the pu pu platter also were hot in fresh. Everything else in the pu pu platter was very dry and tasted not fresh. It was also missing a chicken wing. Lo mein was good.

The atmosphere was calm and inviting, offering a peaceful respite from the usual hustle and bustle. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxed meal or quiet conversation. Our waitress was exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable, taking the time to provide detailed information about the menu and ensuring all our questions were answered with patience and care.

This level of attentiveness and personalized service is rare and greatly appreciated. It’s clear that The Dating Yummy takes pride in creating a welcoming environment for its guests.

For anyone looking for a cozy, tranquil dining experience coupled with outstanding service, I highly recommend giving this small business a visit. It’s a hidden gem in Aurora worth supporting!

I ordered takeout last night, and it was fabulous! The steamed pork buns were still hot and flavorful when I got them home. All the dishes tasted fresh and were all hot when I got home. I only live 12 min away but didn’t expect the items to still be hot; with no reheating needed. Everything tasted great; we ordered soups, fried rice, sesame chicken & Mongolian beef. Definitely my new favorite!!

The dumplings here were very good! They were all super fresh with very reasonable prices. The soup dumplings were great with extra chili oil and the pork wonton in chili oil was super good as well. It tasted a little bit like peanut oil which was super good but if you do have a peanut allergy it may not be a good time. The staff were super friendly. I’d love to support them and their business again.

After hearing that this restaurant had pork meatball dumplings, we decided to try it. The dumplings were as good as any we have had in any location, locally or otherwise. In addition, we had egg drop soup and hot and sour soup. For sharing, we chose chicken lo mein with a nicely flavored sauce. All in all, the meal was terrific, the staff friendly and efficient. We shall return.

Dating Yummy was kind of disappointing with all the good reviews. The hot and sour soup was good but that’s was about it. Egg rolls tasted of only green onion. The mapo tofu lack flavor and even worse the rice was hard as a rock. It was either old or extremely under cooked. Everything else we got was okay but nothing special.

Went and tried their dumplings. Soup dumplings were pretty average. The meat inside felt like it was almost processed. The steamed pork buns, however, were very good. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more of the menu. Worth giving them a try if they are close to you.
