Had takeaway, and we can tell the wood fired pizza would’ve been much better fresh, eaten in. The margherita was simple and really good, and the truffle pizza was also really tasty. Only improvement would be to look at the dough mix as it does get a bit chewy, so either needs to be crispier or softer, one or the other, to make it better.

Also tried the tiramisu, which needs more egg, was a touch too sweet, and needs more coffee flavour. Definitely needs some adjusting.

This place is promising, I’m excited to see it stick around and get better. We’ll have to try dining in next time.

08/03/26 edit: We booked a table and dined in. The food is quite simply perfect. The calamari was fantastic, we then had the rigatoni carbonara, made traditionally with egg yolks, guanciale, pecorino romano, it was perfect. We also tried the lasagna bolognese, again made the way it should be, and just perfect. You wouldn’t/shouldn’t change anything.

We finished with the Panna Cotta and homemade blueberry compote, this is a must try, and also had the tiramisu, again executed very well.

They do things the traditional way, how it was meant to be, and they nail it. This is more than just a local gem, and will likely become the go-to Italian restaurant for many people in the surrounding suburbs.

It’s a small restaurant, so call ahead to book!

I recently visited this place and had a GREAT experience! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff are friendly and attentive I tried the Ortolana pizza and it was absolutely DELICIOUS!! The crust was perfectly cooked, light and crispy, and the fresh vegetables were full of flavor. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. As an Italian, I truly recommend this place. I’ll definitely be back!

Gave this place a try and was impressed. Tight seating but the food and service was on point and that’s what matters. Pizza and Gnocchi were great and the Tiramisu was spectacular, just how we like it, traditional and executed well. Will be back to try some more dishes for sure.

My husband and I visited this new Italian restaurant yesterday and we were genuinely so impressed – such a gem!!
From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional: warm, friendly and genuine.

Now, the food – truly something special. We started with the pizza (Tartufo), and it was easily one of the best authentic Italian pizzas we’ve had in Melbourne (and we tried a lot!)
The crust was light and thin, perfectly blistered from the wood-fired oven, and had that beautiful chew you only get from proper dough. The toppings were thoughtfully balanced, no ingredient overwhelmed the other, and the flavours were spot on. It tasted just like the pizza we had on our last trip to Italy.

For pasta, we had Gnocchi Sorrentina, with the gnocchi being freshly hand made, cooked to perfection with a rich sauce, well-seasoned, and comforting in all the right ways. It’s rare to find a place where both the pizza and pasta are this good. For dessert, we had an exceptional Panna Cotta, which was the perfect end to an authentic Italian meal

Beyond the food, the atmosphere is lovely – warm and inviting, with a genuine sense of hospitality that makes you feel like a guest in someone’s home. You can tell this place was opened with heart.

It’s a beautiful addition to Melbourne’s food scene, and I have no doubt it’s going to become a favourite for many.
We’re already planning our next visit!

Fantastic new local find! Forno 88’s pizzas are top quality — we ordered six pizzas, trying four styles and loved them all. The dough had a great texture and consistency, and the wood-fired oven gave it an amazing flavour. A wonderful addition to the neighbourhood! We will be back!!!!

First time at Forno88 and it was fantastic. The Capricciosa and Prosciutto pizzas were perfectly balanced with authentic wood-fire flavour. Even with the place packed, my takeaway was super fast

This lovely new Italian place has just opened up. We visited on a Saturday night, and the place was full and buzzing!

We ordered a mix of pizzas and pasta dishes and it was all delicious. They make their own sausages and even cook their own porchetta! My favourite was the pasta with crab cooked in a delicious fishy bisque. My friend said her prosciutto pizza was one of the best she’d had!

Service is super friendly and the Italian owners really know their stuff. Can’t recommend this spot enough!

Tried this new Italian place and really liked it. We were a party of 5 and shared a few things across the table. The food was fresh and delicious. The owners are Italian and clearly experienced, which definitely shows in their food. My partner and I had pizza and the homemade gnocchi. You can find good handmade gnocchi around Melbourne, but it’s often let down by the sauce. Not the case here. The sauce was delicious and obviously homemade too. We also had the Nutella pizza for dessert and the panna cotta, which was perfect. Keen to come back and try more things on the menu.
