We made reservations for Christmas Eve dinner. When we arrived we were seated a few minutes after our reservation time. We sat inside and there was someone playing a keyboard and singing who was very good. We ordered drinks which were very good. Our server was friendly and attentive. For appetizers we had the fried calamari, cheesy bread (not so great) and a small square Margarita pizza which was fantastic. For dinner we had tortellini, risotto with salmon, rigatoni with vodka sauce and penne with vodka sauce and chicken. Everyone was very happy with their entrees. The owner stopped by to ask how we were doing, which I always find to be a good sign of a great restaurant. Overall I would recommend Forbici and we will definitely be returning.

As someone who works in Tampa and knows Hyde Park like it’s my part-time job, I have no idea how Forbici managed to sneak in without me noticing. The AUDACITY. I only became aware after hearing half of Tampa whispering, “Have you tried Forbici yet?” like it was some kind of secret society.
So for Valentine’s Day, my husband and I finally booked a table to see what all the commotion was about. Spoiler: the commotion was justified.
We walked in and immediately loved the vibe—moody, chic, “we’re about to spend money but feel good about it.” We were seated right away, and our server came over to explain they’re known for pizza and pasta. Say less.
I ordered a Pellegrino to feel cultured. My husband ordered his tried-and-true Sprite because growth is optional.
The menu? Dangerous. We landed on the cheesy garlic bread and the suppli for apps. Both were fresh and delicious, but the sauce in the suppli? I would like a gallon of it to go. It was that good.
For entrées we ordered a full-size cacio e pepe, a half-size pomodoro cavatelli, and the Parmesan garlic fries. My husband LOVED the cacio e pepe. I thought it was a little buttery—but to be fair, if you’re ordering cacio e pepe and shocked by butter, that’s on you. My pomodoro cavatelli, however? Elite. No notes. And the fries with the garlic aioli? Absolutely disrespectful. I have not stopped thinking about them.
Dare I say… this might be some of the best Italian food I’ve had in Tampa. It may have even nudged past one of our long-time favorites, Olivia. (I said what I said.)
The prices are reasonable, the portions are generous, and everything came out hot and fresh which on Valentine’s Day feels like a miracle.
We will absolutely be back to try the pizza next. Tampa was right. I hate when Tampa is right.

Had lunch here with a friend and we both enjoyed it! The wait time ended up being shorter than expected, which was an added bonus. I was happy to see that some vegetable-forward options were included on the menu. The grain bowl I ordered was hearty, healthy-ish and delicious. My friend was very happy with her salad. We both enjoyed crisp glasses of prosecco.

A nice Italian restaurant with a good menu selection. The Bolognese was delicious. The pizza was good. The server, Evan, was attentive and friendly. It’s a very trendy crowd but the prices were reasonable. It’s a nice relaxing place with lots of attractive people.

Our food was delicious. The truffle fries are a must order. Both times I’ve been here I ordered the pesto penne and it’s scrumptious. My sister and I shared the sausage square pizza which we both loved, but let it be known it does have a spice to it. My mom loved her meatballs. My husband ordered a burger and when I asked him how it was he said “it’s a burger”. So maybe don’t order that but I’ll cut them some slice since it’s an Italian restaurant not a burger joint. My one draw back for this restaurant is the noise. It is very very loud. We chose to eat outside in the heat than inside in the noise. However, if this doesn’t bother you then you’ll love it!

Went here for dinner with my friends. Had the shrimp appetizer and it was mind blowing. I had even emptied the last bit of sauce. Absolutely would recommend this dish. My friends had minestrone soup, nothing fancy about it. Just a regular one. We also had mushroom pizza, it was on focaccia bread and we loved it. One of my friends had pesto pasta it was ok and I had mushroom cavatelli – though I liked the sauce am not a fan, I felt the pasta was undercooked (am not sure if that’s how it’s supposed to be, this is my first time trying it out). We had half portions of pastas. It’s super affordable for a high end restaurant and trust me half portions are good enough and fills you pretty good if you also order appetizers.

I went for my sister’s birthday, and it was delicious! The food is delicious and so fresh. I am gluten free, and they had so many great GF options, including GF pizza and GF pastas. I love the Erica Salad and the beef carpaccio as appetizers. The atmosphere is quite noisy, especially in the evening, but it is very fun if that’s the vibe you’re going for.

Forbici Modern Italian in Tampa’s Hyde Park offers an eclectic dining experience with inside, outside and bar seating. The food is expertly prepared. My bolognese dish was tasty and the pasta was prepared al dente precisely as I prefer.
