Always on the lookout for a great burger and have heard a lot about For The Win, but my experience here was a bit disappointing. The burgers are cooked nicely and the cheese is good – but their fry sauce is overwhelmingly sweet, they charge an additional price for everything apart from the buns and meat, the vibes are uninviting, and the staff don’t seem to want to have anything to do with the customers.

We were meeting up with my SIL/MIL and were all craving burgers so we came here for our family dinner. The decor is minimalist, bare bones, and quite sterile – definitely not an inviting place to linger. There are giant order screens instead of registers at the counter and the staff are hiding back in the kitchen and constantly seemed busy and overwhelmed even when we needed help (we were the only customers).

We eventually figured out our issues on our own and got our food ordered with no help from anyone. We ordered three single cheese burgers and one double with some loaded fries, water bottles and a chocolate shake – almost cost $80! If you want lettuce and tomato or even pickles – extra charge. Pretty much nickel and dime you for anything other than the meat and cheese lol. And forget about water cups – there aren’t any water stations or anything so you’re forced to get bottled water (yay more microplastics).

The food took a while to prepare and when it came out, our shake was missing. I asked the staff about it and he seemed very annoyed – but I eventually got it.

The burgers were cooked decently – the meat and cheese have decent flavors but again, I was not a fan of how sweet their fry sauce was – it was overwhelming on both the burgers and the fries. I also asked for two extra sides of the sauce as I wasn’t sure what to expect and they charge extra for that too ($3 for two sauces) lol. It’s definitely not made in house – it came in pre packaged plastic like giant ketchup packets. Definitely wouldn’t get this again.

The fries were pretty good and the chocolate shake was nice – those were the wins of our experience. I was also taken aback that the self-order kiosk asks you for a tip – you self order, pick up your order yourself when they put it on the counter so you take it back to your table yourself, AND clean up after yourself – which is totally fine but what would we need to tip for?

The location is great – in the main core of the cute little downtown Alhambra area near the movie theater. Parking is easy in the garages nearby.

The food isn’t bad and I would come again if it wasn’t so impersonal and expensive, but unfortunately based on this first experience I doubt we’ll be back – definitely preferred it when it was Grill Em All.

An all around enjoyable meal. If you’re looking for that traditional smashburger then this is the place you’ve been looking for. No frills and no excess. Just plain good food. Give the brussel sprouts and go but I do recommend asking for extra “sauce”. Fries are pretty standard but the sweet potato fries are a nice option. You won’t leave disappointed

Food is quite good, but apparently the store randomly closes their inside dining 40+ minutes early (nothing about this is mentioned anywhere online). By the time I got home my food was barely warm (I live around 10 min away) and grease had started to bleed through the bag. It’s a good burger and loaded fries but if I arrive at an establishment well before close (especially a counter serve place) I expect to be able to enjoy my food there.

No5 bad, not great… the fries are generic sadly… the meat had decent flavor, bun was good, cheese was bland, sauce was a little odd tasting… not terrible but its a unique take on burger sauce and in my humble opinion I didnt like the tang of it. Im glad I tried this place but its forgettable. Id pass unless you have no other options and are craving a smash burger. One turn off in the burger as well was the fact that there were only 2 pickles on it. The ratio was unfavorable.

Also there really isnt any service here.

You walk up to a screen to order as if youre placing a mobile order. No beverage machine either, all canned and bottled drinks. (If that matters to you) I like ti mention those things.

So no real human interaction. Again, pass on this place.

Delicious smash burger. I absolutely love the lace that develops on the edges of the patties. We got a double hamburger with jalapenos and a double cheese burger and both enjoyed them. I loved the size of the burger and the ton of jalapenos they put on.
The Brussels sprouts are a little pricey but that’s because they give you a HUGE amount. They are very good and crispy, with a nice tart sauce. However, I would rather have fewer for a lower price.
The fries are just okay. Standard shoestring fry.
You order from a computer and they call out your name. It’s fairly efficient.
There’s not a ton of seating inside. Maybe enough for 16? There are a few tables outside.
Overall, great burger but it’ll obviously run you more than In-N-Out.

Great smash burger and fries! The fries are a bit too salty though. The burger tastes really good and the size is perfect for one person. There are two staff and they are genuinely nice and polite. Not much people during 4 p.m. at the weekdays.

I am a big fan of For The Win, but this is the first time ordering from the Alhambra location. I made an online pick up order at 6:15 PM but something cropped up and I wasn’t able to pick up my order until after 9 PM. I called to let them know and when I did show up 10 minutes before closing, the staff fired up a completely new order without me even asking. They were so sweet and I’m so impressed with the level of service. I had the double cheeseburger and fries and it was delicious as always. For The Win – FTW.

Seats were not comfy and the price was high but it’s okay to try once in awhile . The French fries were really good ! Fresh and crispy salted great ! Milkshake was delicious i think id go just for the fries and milkshake fr! Burger was good but i think id rather go for In N out lol . My BF took my for valentines to try something different and it was delicious. Brussels sprouts were alittle on the salty side but good ! Added two strips of bacon was almost 2 bucks and did not taste fresh like the burger was precooked .

To be honest, which is a phrase I hardly ever use. In this case it fits, “to be honest”, I don’t think I would have ever found this burger spot!!! However since going there, I think you should too. The fries are 10 out of 10 very fresh and the burger (mines without sauce) is a 10 out of 10 to my liking. The customer service is amazing. I walked in and the first worker I came in contact with had a very pleasant and inviting smile on her face. The other young lady is just a nice and was eager to serve.
The manager showed me I was in a good place to enjoy good food along with good service.
The amibiance with the great service and excellent food is why I’m sharing this spot you should visit.

Also, I came home a reheated those fresh tasting fries and they still taste top notch

Just spent $60 plus dollars plus tip on 4 burgers.. no fries.. for nearly $14.00 a berger you’d expect it to come with fries.

For the burger itself. Taste was not bad a little on the soggy side but id rather it be soggy than dry. It was underwhelming though. I only had pickles removed from my order and when I got home to eat it I found they only had grilled onions and those were over cooked and very few…and nothing else. No lettuce, no tomatoes. Just meat cheese and tiny buns that seem to be tiny only to make the burger itself seem bigger than it was. I believe they used the little tiny sweet hawaiian buns you can buy at your local store.. this felt more like a smash SLIDER than a smash BURGER. Literally took me 4 bites to finish a “double smash burger” not worth the $14.00 it cost and the 25 mins of wait time. I went next door got 4 bobas that were ready quicker..

Very disappointing. I really wanted this to be good and have a good experience here so I had a local burger place to go to when cravings called. Needless to say, I will not be going there again.
