Everything we ordered was good, although the braised beef was a bit salty and chewy for my preference. Service also was a miss at times. The restaurant vibe is chill and love the retro decor.
The restaurant has a cute, cozy ambiance with a nice modern touch. The staff were attentive, kind, and checked in just the right amount. Prices were reasonable for the quality and portion sizes.
Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to Fooki, especially for the dumplings and Mala Chicken!
The Grandpa Rolling Beef in particular blew me away — it’s a unique dish I’ve never had before, but now I can’t stop thinking about it. The flavors were rich, the texture perfect, and you can tell everything is made with care.
The portions were great, the ingredients fresh, and the vibes super chill. Can’t wait to go back and try more off the menu.
10/10 recommend — especially if you’re craving Taiwanese food done right.
The chicken had a nice salty, herby flavor from the dried greens, but after a while the dryness made it less enjoyable. The pork chop was also on the dry side. Maybe some dipping sauce like shoyu and vinegar with chili would’ve made it better. The bao, however, really stood out. It was thick, juicy with rich fat and flavorful garnishes. The Cow Wow noodle soup was overall tasty with tender cuts, but the shank was a bit tough to pull off the bone.
Service was excellent. The young lady helping us was quick and attentive, gave great recommendations, and replaced our dropped chopsticks without even asking.
The atmosphere was calm for an afternoon visit with booming K-pop music (especially our favorite Blackpink tracks); gave the place a fun vibe.
The Beef Noodle special soup is so beefy and comforting the beef rib and beef slices are so tender and beefy. The dumpling so so tender and juicy the chive one just hit my soul. Plus I’m so happy they have chili oil because it took them to the next level. The pork belly bao were gelatinous and tender and the flavor is out of this world heavenly to be exact. They told me this was their homelands comfort foods brought to Hawaii.
Such a blessing to have this specific Taiwanese restaurant. The owners and waitstaff are so courteous. I’m just blown away by this place.
I hope more people start to enjoy this humble restaurant. I left full and long for my next visit to try more of their dishes.
We ordered the Braised Mushroom Noodle soup, Classic Braised Beef Noodle soup, and the Braised Wonton Noodle soup. What does braised mean? There’s a red pepper next to it so there is supposed to be more spice. Mine wasn’t, but I liked it. A co-worker asked for chili oil, which he said made his wonton dish “perfect”.
As before, there was scant conversation, just the sounds of slurping. I enjoyed my braised mushroom noodle soup and would order it again, but would ask for egg noodles as the noodles that came with my dish were a little too thick. The noodles in the braised beef dish were like that found in e-mein dishes … Those are way too thick for me.
We paid in cash because they apply a 3% surcharge for credit card usage. No problem …
