Social Profile:

Food For Thought is a family restaurant in Williamsburg, Virginia, that’s as engaging for the mind as it is for the senses. Surrounded by quotes and images of inventors, scientists, and social leaders, our atmosphere aims to inspire families and encourage discussion over wholesome, delicious food. Food For Thought’s menu is as diverse as the great thinkers themselves. Our diner’s choices vary from American classics, ethnic dishes, healthy vegetarian options, or one of our nightly seafood specialties. The foundation of our menu is built upon American staples like our famous Fork Tender Pot Roast, Grandma’s Meatloaf, and “fall off the bones” ribs. America grew up on these meals, and we love paying homage to our country’s past. To complemen…

American fare with global influences served in a conceptual eatery decorated with words of wisdom.

This restaurant is AWESOME!!! Soooo many amazing options! I could eat here every day for a week and not run out of options of what I would want while being torn was still wanting to eat the same things I’ve already had! Luckily, we all shared, so I got to try the amazing ribs, the pad Thai, which is a little spicy, the crab cake, and the fish and chips is out of this world! The sweet potato french fries with this sweet sauce they brought out to dip them in= droooool!!! The bread pudding was totally amazing! I don’t usually like beer, but if you look at that caramel one that’s the second one in the flight in the picture, it blew my mind! My partner loved all 5! My martini was delicious!! The owner came out and talked to us and took a picture with me. Unfortunately, I don’t remember our server’s name, but she was top notch!!!!!! Anticipated every need and worked quickly and flawlessly! I really dig the atmosphere here as well.

We selected this place since I noticed it had great reviews on gluten-free. I have two celiac daughters. We were not disappointed.

The server brought out both a Parmesan roll for my husband and I in individually wrapped rolls that were gluten-free for my daughters.

One of my daughters tried to order something and the waiter said the computer would trigger it as gluten. They have a great system set up to accommodate gluten-free.

We ordered four different dishes. The portion sizes are not huge, but they were enough. The flavor of the dishes was great.

Atmosphere is as you would expect in a restaurant. Nothing fancy, but definitely not a dive.

We all agreed it was a hit and a great find and we would definitely be back.

Everything about food for thought was THOUGHT OUT!! Had ribs and stuffed mushrooms for appetizers, pot roast, meatloaf, mashed potatoes w gravy and grilled zucchini and the steak and crab cakes…. banana pudding pie for dessert. Vegan options. Great atmosphere. Quotes located throughout were awesome. Even the simple games at the table ( no electronic games) were great. Thank you for giving good thoughts while eating good food. I’ll be back. Call ahead. Outlets down the street if there is a wait

Food for Thought was hands down the highlight of our trip. Williamsburg is nice enough but this place is the reason I would come back.

The food is outstanding. Everything we ordered was thoughtful, well executed, and genuinely delicious. You can tell real care goes into both the menu and the way it is prepared. This was our second time here and it somehow managed to be just as impressive as the first.

The service is just as memorable as the food. Every table seemed to get a visit from the manager, who took the time to check in and make sure everything was great. That kind of attention is rare and it shows how much they care about the experience, not just the meal.

Food for Thought is one of those rare places where amazing food and genuine hospitality come together. If you are in Williamsburg, do not miss it.

Came here on whim of someone’s recommendation that local. Had the pistachio chicken with beets and broccoli. Throughly enjoyed my meal. The shrimp on the potatoes and chicken tenders were delicious and perfectly cooked. The manager came around to greet us and the thought was appreciated. I’ll say this, the venue seems to be always jumping and you should expect a wait. The service was great and the staff was very attentive, which I liked. If you’re in the area and looking for good quality food with a thoughtful touch, this is your spot. Just as a suggestion, be patient to be seated and expect to sit close to folks. When I’m in the area in the future, I plan to come back and try something different.

First time here at Food for thought we came down here to visit family and they told us about it. Definitely one of the best experiences that I’ve had at a restaurant. We had a server named Gilbert who is funny and really good at his craft.

Restaurant had great atmosphere and I love the cards on the table to get the family talking about things instead of watching your phone. Cool quotes by famous people.

Food was fantastic. There’s a lot of options for all different types of foodies. But if there’s one thing you should try, it’s a fall off the bone ribs.

We will be back

Solid restaurant, worth the stop. I like the way they laid things out inside. Prices are reasonable, and they have a GF menu. I tried the meatloaf/pot Roast combo meal. Great choice. The whiskey flight was interesting, but I’ll stick to kentucky flights next time. Thank you for a great experience.

Great food. Great discussion. Don’t miss the full service bar. We never saw it because it is blocked by a wall. (I’d tear it down and add a window to see it from the entrance). Our server was excellent and we left full and happy. We had ribs, shrimp boat, and bread pudding. So good.
