The atmosphere was clean and gentle, with good lighting and comfortable seats; our server was very attentive and we had everything we needed throughout our meal; and the food was delicious! It came hot and steaming, and full of flavor!

It’s a good restaurant with good typical American Chinese food. It’s been hit or miss for me though – I liked the Hong Kong, but their battered and fried chicken is just too rich for me, and the fried rice was super oily (came out a solid block the next day from the fridge). However, I got chicken lo mein and it had a GREAT taste. I’d come back for that.

Fongs used to be a great place to eat. The last time I went, all of the prices had been raised close to a dollar. They weren’t even sneaky about it. All of the menus have the prices crossed out and replaced with new ones written in sharpie. It’s almost like a slap in the face. We used to be able to eat there for under $15 and feel like it was a great value. Now it’s usually closer to $20 or more. Also, be aware that if you want your sauce on the side (I hate soggy leftovers), they charge extra for that. This used to be a place that we came to regularly. Now, not so much…

I got a lunch special, #5 mandarin chicken with chow mein as the side. The mandarin chicken was dry and chewy and I didn’t realize I was being put on a diet with the chow mein only consisting of celery and onions. I even googled what chow mein is supposed to contain, fried noodles, vegetables and pork. For an “authentic” Chinese restaurant with Chinese owners I expected far better. Panda Express is cheaper, more authentic than Fongs, pays their employees more then $4 an hour and doesn’t subject underpaid staff to workers abuse via yelling, insults and taking a portion of their tips, not to mention being paid once a month.

I don’t leave reviews often and when I do they are always positive but unfortunately not this time . I also try to be understanding when especially when it comes to restaurants as I know it’s a hard business. The food was horrible, we threw almost everything away after the first few bites. Absolutely everything came out of the freezer section at Walmart and I mean everything! Everything was bland and soggy with one exception which was the odd use of uncooked XL chunks of celery. I’m fat I know what Chinese food should be like and I would have been very disappointed if I paid 6 bucks for this at Walmart let alone $21 at fongs . Order at your own risk

I’ve been here many times, as my kids request it, but my husband and I give each other a look when they do because our experience is that a lot of their dishes look and taste the same. On our first visit we ordered orange chicken and sweet and sour pork. The meat came out on identical plates and we couldn’t tell the difference. The sauces were the same texture and color. I tried them and couldn’t tell the difference so I asked about it and the waitress looked at me like I was crazy, insisting they were different (but they looked & tasted EXACTLY the same). On my latest visit I discovered they’ve hiked up the prices for mediocre food (maybe because they’re very generous with the portions?) and the pork was an extra cost. Plus they gave us less of it than an identical chicken dish and it was so old and dry I could barely choke it down. I really don’t think I can let my kids pick this place again, it’s not that great. Sorry Fong’s!
