We celebrated a birthday at Taste Bar & Grill in Fondren and had a fantastic experience. The service was speedy and very attentive — our server was kind and made sure our party felt taken care of.
The food came out quickly, which we really appreciated, especially with a group. It was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was lively yet comfortable, making it the perfect spot for a celebration. Lisa made our experience so enjoyable. Everything went well, and we left happy and full. Definitely a great place for special occasions!

It was great to pop in and find a new spot in Jackson. The Taste Bar & Grill was a pleasant surprise and gave the hubs and I Houston vibes, aesthetically. We loved the attention to detail on the decor and layout. The vibe and streaming music was nice and added to the experience. The hubs ordered an assortment of wings and I tried the oxtail pasta. The wings were pretty good. The oxtail pasta took quite a while to come out. The hubs had finished his plate before mine arrived. The new bartender was very kind and gracious when reporting on the delay. Upon arrival, the oxtail itself had a heat (like Jalapeño seed heat) that I wasn’t prepared for, but the oxtail meat was falling off the bone and well prepared nonetheless. We didn’t order drinks this time around, but will return when we’re in the area for drinks, apps, and a vibe!

I recently celebrated my 55th Birthday on Thursday July 3rd and I had an absolutely wonderful time. The hostess (Faith) took care of my guests with seating. Our waitress was an absolute sweetheart. I have to give a big shout out to the cook. The food was amazing and the drinks on point. I will definitely visit again . Thanks to Latrice Rogers!!!

I went here a few weeks ago and had an ok experience. I heard about this restaurant because I watch the show. The atmosphere and decor were nice. We came around around 7 and it wasnt too packed nor the music too loud. We were immediately seated and our server, Cliff took our orders. My drink was good and I tried oysters for the first time and I didn’t care for them. Not saying they were bad, just not my thing. There is a lot of seafood on the menu so my friend ordered dessert first. She ordered the fried apples and they were delicious. Definitely something everyone should order. I had the salmon with asparagus and rice. It tasted like something out of a TV dinner, but it was still good. My server Cliff, you would think he fell off a cliff because we kept looking for him. There was a lady that kept coming to our table, so we asked her if she could get our waiter, and she did. My friend finally decided to get a burger and she said it was very good. I only tasted one of the fried apples that my friend ordered, so I wanted my own. Cliff was standing at the table beside the kitchen talking, and I waved my hand so that he could come to our table. I ordered the fried apples and we waited for about 20 minutes before Cliff came back to our table. He said and I quote ‘they cooked your apples but somehow they put Cajun seasoning on top so they had to throw them away and that was the last apple we had’, my friend and I looked at each other confused as Cliff laughed. He said they would give me a complimentary dessert of my choice and I chose the cheesecake. The cheesecake wasn’t good, so I took a few bites and left it there. This place is overpriced, but I think I would only come back for the drinks and those fried apples if they have them.

Me and the boys took my daughter to Taste for a birthday dinner. First time eating there.The appetizers were great. The drinks were very flavorful. The service was also great. But my entrée was a different story. I ordered the shrimp and grits. First of all the grits were bland, secondly the sauce they placed on top of the grits was watered-down. The only thing they had going for them were the shrimp. Everyone else’s meal was all good. I may visit again in the near future, just not for the shrimp and grits.

The catfish and grits and the pancakes were perfection. Couldnt eat it all in one sitting but the fish reheats nicely next day. The cream sauce on the grits, was delicious.. could have used a little more of it!

I wanted to like this place. I visited from Northern, VA with my husband who is leading a project here in Jackson. I follow the show Belle Collective and thought I’d support the business. They had plenty of staff on duty on Friday. We visited around 6p. We were seated rather quickly. We ordered the Oyster Rockefeller dish. It came with bread that seemed stale. (I thought it would be toasted, but it wasn’t toasted or so it seemed.. it just appeared to be really stale bread. We (did order and get our drinks pretty quickly– which we were happy with! We ordered pasta for entrees. My husband had seafood Cajun pasta (he enjoyed) and I had the oxtail pasta. I was extremely disappointed as I thought it would have a good Southern flavor to it.. but instead it was completely bland – both the oxtails and the pasta. To be fair, I did let the waitress know and they did offer to replace it or allow me to get something else. I declined… I just don’t like to send anything back to the kitchen .. my own reasons. Though, I didn’t love my food.. we will give them another try before we leave.

I really had better expectations for this place. Creole pasta was fairly good, but shrimp were not seasoned. 6.5/10. Drinks were highly priced & mediocre. 6/10. There is 1 particular bartender that knows what she is doing. Char-grilled oysters were mediocre. 5.7/10. I feel like it was a low grade of oysters. Ambience. 6.5/10. Music was way too loud. You can’t be a lounge with loud music. Customer service. 8.5/10. Our server was smooth, but the whole entire staff were just playing too much in there for me. Professionalism. 4/10.
