What sets FOLKLORE apart from other places is that all of our Mexican dishes are made with love. Our family takes great pride in all the elements that go into our food whether it be making salsa, regional dishes, special sauces or marinades to bring out the best flavors. To them, cutting fresh limes, juicing citrus and opening banana leaves is just part of the job and a key to FOLKLORE’S success. We use artisanal recipes as an outlet to express our creativity and love for food. FOLKLORE, it is synonymous with bold flavor and we achieve this by respecting the age-old Mexican traditions.

I was out riding and ended up in West Orange when I realized my go-to taco spot on Uber Eats was right nearby. Had to stop in instead of just ordering online.

This place is the definition of mom-and-pop—nothing fancy, just cozy, with food that hits hard at prices anyone can get behind. The tacos were excellent, and that mystery green sauce? Game-changer.

Loved my lunch here! I wish I had gone with some friends or family so I could have sampled more. That being said, I loved my tacos, they came quickly and were absolutely delicious. I will be returning

Food was okay. Service was really slow and we were one of the only two people in the restaurant. We decided to get the queso tacos carne asada and pollo, and chipotle chicken nachos.
The nachos were really bland couldn’t really taste the chipotle on the chicken and it came with the smallest amount of guacamole.
The carne asada was dry and the chicken wasn’t too flavorful. Overall it was okay but don’t think I would go back. It wasn’t to my liking and taste but I’m sure some other people would enjoy it.
THERES NO PARKING. so if that’s something you look for just know it’s street parking and it’s always full

I recently discovered a hidden gem in West Orange, NJ – Folklore Artisanal Taco – and it instantly became my go-to spot for authentic and delicious tacos. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by Sonya, who was taking orders with a warm smile and exceptional kindness. Her attentiveness and great recommendations added to the delightful experience.

I decided to try the shrimp tacos based on Sonya’s suggestion, and they did not disappoint. Each taco was generously loaded with perfectly cooked shrimp, nestled in a soft corn tortilla and topped with fresh onions and cilantro or mixed cabbage. The side of salsa verde and aioli was the perfect complement, adding a burst of flavor to every bite. With four tacos per order, it was a satisfying and hearty meal.

The guacamole and chips were another highlight of my visit. The guacamole was fresh and flavorful, perfectly paired with the crispy chips. To top off the meal, I enjoyed a refreshing hibiscus water, which was a wonderful complement to the savory tacos and guacamole.

Folklore Artisanal Taco is truly a standout spot with its fantastic food, inviting atmosphere, and exceptional service. If you’re in West Orange, NJ, make sure to stop by and treat yourself to this culinary delight!

I came across this spot for lunch so I called in my order. When the lady answered I asked her a question and she had to find out. She hung up on me a couple times while I was on hold but she finally got my answer. I ordered the mushroom and spinach tacos and chips with salsa.

When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked in and the lady asked if I was picking up. I told her my name and she grabbed my food. It came to $15.94 total. When I got in I dug in and the chips were good with the dip. The tacos were a little salty though. I did like the sauce they gave with it. All in all I had an ok experience.

This is basically my go-to spot for tacos on Uber Eats. The other day I was in West Orange and decided to finally check it out in person instead of ordering delivery.

What can I say? I’m a sucker for mom-and-pop restaurants that serve really good food at reasonable prices. It’s not fancy—more cozy than anything—but the tacos slapped. And that green sauce they gave me? Whatever it was, it tied everything together.

I decided to try somewhere new I had high expectations from reviews but was left disappointed. The Elote and Horchata wasn’t bad I’d rate each 7/10. The chips guacamole were overpriced to me especially since there was nothing but avocado (no cilantro, onions etc)4/10. The tacos didn’t have much flavor to me and I expected more taste wise 5/10.

Small location but food was pretty fresh just like their tortillas (felt like hand made), churros and meats. Tacos can be a bit pricey but depending of the choices you make. But over all very good tacos!

Went here for dinner, not a bad place. Food was not bad either. No homemade sauces to go with the food though. Guac portion is small, chips not so fresh. But the place is good overall, if I was super hungry I would go.
