Fogonero is a must!
We had an amazing experience at Fogonero. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious — the empanadas were perfectly crispy, the yuca con guasaca was flavorful and fresh, the ceviche was bright and refreshing, and the arepa de pabellón was packed with authentic flavor. The pabellón criollo plate was the star of the meal — hearty, well-seasoned, and truly comforting.
Our waitress, Mary, made the experience even better. She was incredibly attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. Her great service really stood out.
If you’re looking for authentic Venezuelan food with excellent service, Fogonero is the place. We’ll definitely be back!

I ordered a 2-filling Arepa with shredded chicken and fried sweet plantain and it was incredible. I don’t think it survived on my plate for more a few minutes. The spicy sauce it came with was so flavorful as well, and not just hitting you with spice.

The food was absolutely delicious. You could truly feel that it was made with so much love. As a Brazilian, I found that Venezuelan cuisine shares many similarities with Brazilian food, and this restaurant reminded me so much of the meals my family used to make. We visited Fogonero Venezuelan with our family and left very happy. TL;DR: so far, this is the best Venezuelan food we’ve had in Austin.
To set expectations, it’s not exactly the same as Venezuelan food in Miami, but within Austin, this is the best we’ve tried. I ordered the cachapa and it was excellent — flavorful, well made, and very satisfying. The papelón con limón was also great and tasted just right.
The service was friendly and attentive, the place is clean and nicely done, and overall the experience felt welcoming and authentic. We enjoyed our meal, left happy, and will definitely be coming back.
Highly recommended if you’re looking for solid Venezuelan food in Austin.

The people and service at Fogonero are very nice. The food was exquisite, and it brought back memories from my childhood, which I hadn’t experienced in a long time. My only complaint would be the prices. I understand that various factors such as the market, earnings, and competition play a role, but compared to similar Latin and Hispanic restaurants, Venezuelan food tends to be more expensive. Our main goal is to attract people from other nationalities to appreciate our culture, beliefs, and gastronomy. Despite the pricing, Fogonero is a fantastic place with excellent food and service. I would consider it one of the best spots in the area.

We loved our first experience dining at Fogonero! Order the mini empanadas. Not only are they gluten-free, made from corn, they fry them up so they deliver a delightful crispy crunch. Pair them with the homemade sauces, and you’ll be entranced. I ordered the filet with mashed potatoes and cheese, which was divine and very filling. My husband ordered the mushroom risotto, a creamy delight perfect for a warming up on cold winter night.
