We spent Valentine’s eve at Fo’c’sle Tavern in Chester and it was absolutely perfect.
The dining room side felt so welcoming, quaint, and beautifully quiet… exactly the kind of cozy atmosphere you want for a romantic night out.
The room itself was lovely, and the entire experience felt intimate and relaxed.
The service was incredible.. patient, kind, attentive, and genuinely warm.
We never felt rushed, yet everything arrived quickly and smoothly.
We started with the mussels (so fresh and delicious), and both ordered the steak for our mains – easily a 10/10.
Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and beautifully presented.
Truly one of those meals where every bite makes you pause.
The prices were very reasonable for the quality, which made the experience even better.

Very friendly. Super great food. We ordered the fish and chips and the house Red Ale.
We went a second night: i had their signature stuffed halibut, and carrot cake for dessert .
3rd night I had cup of lobster bisque . We also ordered chicken wings . Caesar salad ok.

Outstanding place! Fish and chips was one of the best we ever had. The stuffed haddock was cooked to perfection with scallops, shrimp, cherry tomatoes and incredible sauce. The staff wad very friendly and fun to deal with. Highly recommended!

It’s been a long time since I went to a Pub for a meal. Last time was 20 odd years ago, when Chicken wings were all the rage. The Foc’sle is way beyond that. The chef there really knows his business. I had a Seafood Risotto, my wife, Stuffed Haddock. Both plates were delicious, with enough to fill you up, but not so much that you wouldn’t want desert. I enjoyed every bite. I will say that it’s the first time I ever had an ice cold stout. It’s not bad. Great place to eat. Very much recommended.

Went for dinner. Overall, had a lovely meal. Ordered the Lobster Bisque and the Seafood Fettuccine. Both were quite tasty but came out super hot. Unfortunately, the fettuccine sauce broke so was mostly butter. There was a good amount of seafood though. The server was lovely but it got quite busy so service was slower than we thought it would be.

Stopped here for lunch in May 2022. The staff were very friendly, fun, and informative (about other things we could do while we were in the area). There were so many interior decor details that gave it a lot of charm.
The food was great. The seafood chowder. Yum. The apple crisp was really good too. And they played a lot of Eagles songs in the background which is always great for setting a fun and chill mood.

I have been wanting to dine here and finally the timing was just right. The Manager and our server couldn’t have been any nicer. The food is exemplary. One of the best spinach salads; it wasn’t over dressed. Fresh cut french fries not frozen, thank God. The roast beef dip was superb and the jus was not salty. I highly recommend this restaurant. Service was also fantastic.

The atmosphere was amazing and the food was delicious. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their food. The location is amazing and can only imagine this location in the summer. Felt like we were family and very welcoming. The prices are reasonable and the portions are good. The desert options are truly out of this world. You could go for a formal meal, desert or a cold beer and watch the game. All options are great at this location.

We were so pleased to have found this gem of a pub in Chester. On our visit and walking around the waterfront saw this and after learning it was the oldest pub in Nova Scotia we had to check it out! The layout is amazing great views, a very vegan/vegetarian friendly menu! We were please with both our dishes and loved the ambiance! 10/10 would come back because of the history and great experience!
