Flying Bull Restaurant & Brewery did not come to play. The Brussels sprouts alone had me ready to testify — truly some of the best I’ve ever had. The loaded nachos with brisket were superb, and that brisket melted in my mouth like it had something to prove.

The drinks were on point, too. I loved the beer flight — they have some really good, unique beers, and we were giggling by the time we left. I can’t wait to go back and try the burger… honestly, I’m ready to try anything on that menu at this point.

Our waitress was amazing — super helpful, kind, and gave great suggestions that made the whole experience even better. Flying Bull is definitely a spot I’ll be returning to.

We went to Flying Bull before a DPAC show. They weren’t quite full, but lots of folks were there to eat before rhe show as well. Our order consisted of Mac and Beer Cheese, Loaded Nachos with brisket, Buffalo Chicken dip, a Gormet Burger with Truffle Fries and Banana Pudding. For drinks we tried the Double Smoked Old Fashion and Berry me in Mint. The Mint was very good and refreshing, not too sweet. And… I was told the old fashioned was great! The Mac & Cheese was really good. Not super creamy if that is what you are expecting. The crunchy shallots really made the dish. Most likely because it is beer cheese… so expect cheese, not cream. The Buffalo Chicken dip.is the best I have had so far! So creamy, good heat and nice chunks of chicken with fried pita chips. Scrumptious! Nachos were also delicious, although not as big a portion as tou may be used to. The gornet burget had great flavor and the trufflie fries were amazing. The Banana Pudding waa the final flavor of the nigh which was like your grandma would make. tExcellent dinner for sure.

Incredible, all around. On point black ipa, great buffalo chicken dip, German bangers and mash on par with anything in Munich.
If I could give this place 6 stars, I would.
Madz was exceptional behind the bar, very friendly, very knowledgeable.
Will be back for sure…
Definitely needs consideration as one of the top dining/bar spots in downtown Durham.

Was in town for a seminar and found this place close to the hotel. I am so glad that I did! The drinks were on point, the deviled eggs were to die for, and my Bullvarian filet dinner was just superb. I wish it were closer so I could go back more often, but will definitely be back if I ever get the chance. Definitely a must try if you are in town!

Matthew with Offline – Went for a quick lunch the truffle fries were the star, the burger was good, and the chicken sandwich was nice and crisp. We didn’t try any drinks, but they looked good from what we saw.

Strange and Disappointing Experience

We came in for a basketball game and wanted to sit in front of the TVs and even though there were multiple tables available they were supposedly reserved. No one showed up and those tables remained empty during our entire 2 hour stay.

Service was slow even though the place was half empty. The food came out cold and the portions were small given the price and quality. The bread dish was only 3 small slices of bread with rock hard “whipped” butter. The airline chicken was decent but again very small piece of chicken. Cocktails were very good tho one of our drinks was served in a broken glass. They ran out of one of the 6 main dishes they have.

I would only come back for cocktails as there are so many better restaurants in Durham for the quality/cost.

I went early afternoon on Friday. To my surprise it was fairly empty. The atmosphere and presentation of the food and drinks is exceptional. It gives upscale but not pretentious. I loved trying multiple items on the menu and a couple of cocktails. My favorite items were the brussels sprouts and the wings. The staff was friendly and attentive. My husband likes to rate the water when we go out, the water here is 10 out of 10. He also loved the namana pudding. I highly recommend giving this place a try if you are in the area.

Miesha with Offline – This was our first time stopping in at Flying Bull. We were greeted when we arrived and seated immediately. We started with the Brussels and the Porkbelly. Both were awesome. The sauce on the Pork had the perfect amount of heat and the pickled onions were right amount of tangy on the Brussels. For mains, I ordered the tuna and my husband got the burger. Both were good. Also, recommend the Old Morning. I added a dash of simple but it would be good without it as well. We will be back again.

Truly a hidden new gem in Durham! Flying Bull was happily able to accommodate our last minute party of 9 for a wedding/family welcome dinner. Joel (owner) was incredibly welcoming and friendly and made our family feel special and the brides celebrated. The food and drink menu was spectacular! Wishing the best success to this wonderful restaurateur.

From the moment we walked in, Angie greeted us with smile and was very kind. Any time we had questions, she went out of her way to find the answer. The atmosphere was chill, as it was around 8 when we arrived. Very clean and cute space! The food is good. Maybe less guac on the nachos as it was a huge slab of it on top. The owner even stopped by the table and introduced himself. Very humble guy. He even mentioned the slab of guac lol! The burger sliders had good flavor. Nice portion. My husband got the pork chop which he said could have used more seasoning. Overall, great experience and would definitely go back!
