It’s my first time at Flying Boots & Café and the place is such a vibe. The music was a bit louder than I expected, but it’s a good mix of genres so it still adds to the atmosphere. We ordered roasted garlic Parmesan wings, smoky chipotle wings, French dip, and an American burger with onion rings.

The roasted garlic Parmesan wings were a surprise to me because they were sweet. I even thought they added honey, but the server said that’s really how it tastes. So if you don’t like sweet wings, you might want to try a different flavor. Everything else was delicious. My dad said he’ll order the French dip again because it’s the best he’s had in a long time. The burger and smoky chipotle wings were also good.

The fries and onion rings were just okay, not bad but not my favorite either. The bathroom was not clean, but I think it’s because they might be understaffed. Parking is very limited and a bit narrow, so keep that in mind if you plan to visit. It’s more of a bar and café setup, so it’s not really kid friendly.

Overall, it’s a fun place to hang out, enjoy good food, and relax after a long day.

Heard about this place as a good spot for wings, so I had to try it.

The wings did not disappoint. I tries the sticky fingers and garlic Parm and both might have been the best wings I’ve had in Tacoma.

Service was good and atmosphere was fun and lively. Place was clean and comfortable.

Can’t wait to go back and try more wing flavors.

This time I actually did have a PT appointment plus another needed stop at the fairgrounds. So, after another torture session I wanted breakfast. This time was the Flying Boots Cafe.

The building and sign are very old, dating back to a time when cocktail lounges had names related to the name of the restaurant. The sign advertises The Spur Room.

While older, it was very clean inside. There were tables or booths on either side of the L shaped bar.

We were greeted as we walked through the door and told to pick a table. It was pretty dark inside so we picked a table. The bartender was also our server. She was quite friendly and efficient. She seemed to know all of the patrons and took care of them and us too.

After going over the menu I decided on the BAS, which is Bacon, Avocado and Swiss cheese omelette with Hollandaise sauce and sourdough toast. Ray ordered the Boot Buster with an English muffin. The only choice of potatoes was hash browns so that is what we ordered.

I noticed on the special menu if you ordered breakfast before noon, you could request a complimentary pancake to add to your breakfast. I was feeling like a pancake so I took advantage of the offer.

Breakfast came up pretty quickly. The pancake was delivered first by about a minute. I could tell it was light and fluffy, not a “syrup soaker” as Ray calls them. I ate part of it and took the rest home for my Amazon parrot who loves pancakes.

My BAS had fresh avocado slices over the top as well as inside. The hollandaise sauce was homemade and very good. The hash browns appeared to be homemade and not frozen out of the bag. They were very good.

Ray’s Boot buster was loaded with meat. It was huge. He liked his hash browns too!!

The only blight to our breakfast was the woman who came in and was so incoherent I could not understand what she wanted. Our server was at our table so fast I never saw how she got there. She handled the person quite professionally, and with compassion as she asked how she could help her, and if she did not want anything, she needed to leave. She did not want food, as near as I could tell.

I loved the handles on the bathroom sink fixture. Hence the picture. This is not the first bathroom picture I have taken. I love some of the new decor.

According to other reviews, this place has great chicken wings. I can’t wait to come back and check them out.

Flying boots is very much so the typical dive bar. The drinks are reasonably priced, the clientele are all friendly, and the bartenders (while very busy at some points) are friendly.
I recommend they’re jalapeno poppers and the cheese logs as all of those are made scratch in house.

My experience is always GREAT! The atmosphere is always friendly! Great staff that checks on you often to make sure you’re all good. The drinks are great and the bartenders know their drinks! The food is great, the serving sizes are plentiful! Lunch, including drinks, is reasonably priced for what I got. All around a good place to go for a friendly atmosphere and a good time.

Love this friendly, clean, spacious, well lit neighborhood bar and cafe!! They have windows so you get some natural sun daytime and it’s not completely dark inside. Love that. Patio is nice option to have a drink outside. Food is GREAT, varied menu, specials & super welcoming staff. Karaoke EVERY NIGHT! Some games and a dart board. Definitely liking my new neighborhood spot!

The food was much better than expected. Prime Rib and wings were both done well. The bartender was on it and kept checking in.

This place has some good food! The staff is very nice too. I’ve been here before and the had chicken wings, which are delicious! Today we came in for breakfast, and some bloody mary’s.
The corn beef hash was fried and had great flavor(which is from a can, but so good). The chicken fried steak had great flavor and cooked perfectly.

Definitely a hidden gem. Check it out!

I think the burgers are some of the best bar/pub burgers around. They are using REAL fresh meat and quality ingredients and they will cook to your liking. The atmosphere is pretty laid back, karaoke at night and staff has been pretty nice. I don’t drink but I enjoy the food!
