I would love to visit The Flying Boat Tap Room more often than I do. Unfortunately, being that I live in TN., my dining opportunities are limited to my annual visits to Ocala during the week of the Sun N’ Fun Airshow in Lakeland. However, my visits & dining experiences there have always been very positive & pleasant. The owners, Tim & Paige Kirby, have always made me feel welcome & treated me in royal fashion. The staff are first rate. They are warm, cordial, friendly, & attentive to customers’ needs & requests. The food is always great, no matter what I order. The pizza is awesome. The beer selection is vast & should appeal to just about anyone’s taste. The outside dining & occasional live entertainment is definitely an added plus that appeals to many diners. And I love the restaurant decor, which compliments the aviation theme & atmosphere of the restaurant’s name sake. My top ratings of The Flying Boat Tap Room are, in my opinion, spot on. I always look forward to my visits to the Ocala area, which affords me the opportunity to visit Tim & Paige & their fine restaurant. I wish them continued success!

We visit my Dad in Belleview when we can but our favorite place to stop and dri k and eat is flying boat. I pove this place the only down side is everything is so great its hard to decide what to choose to eat. Every single item on the menu is fantastic. The place is very clean , the bathrooms are very clean as well. You can always tell how well kept a place is and how the kitchen is for cleanliness when they have very clean bathrooms. I can’t wait to get back ip there.

This is a really nice taproom! Large selection of varied beer 28 beers on tap, and 107 in bottles and cans. Great service! I had a pizza and it was really good. I’ll be in town for a couple days and I plan to go back.

We have been coming to The Flying Boat Taproom since the very beginning—and very easily have dined here over twenty times. I am not sure how it is possible, but every time seems better and better. The quality of the ingredients, the expert preparation of the food, and the care and attentiveness of the staff has always been truly five star. We are great lovers of IPAs, and the ever changing rotation of the creatively named brews is always a great topic of discussion.
A special shoutout to Shayna who is a server par excellence and so patient with our ‘custom’ pizza orders. Other nights, we also have a fabulous time eating at the bar where bartender Kevin (and Shayna’s brother!) is not afraid to give me a hard time for stealing what should be my husband’s pizza And in terms of the pizza, Chris was once a pizza chef himself during his UH days in Honolulu—and Flying Boat is really and truly the only pizza he will eat! Twice now we have made the mistake of ordering pizza while traveling in the Keys and North Carolina, and twice we have cried the blues, ‘this ain’t no Flying Boat’ For this we have chefs Lester, Jaiden, and Chris to thank—and please know your efforts are very much appreciated. We will be back soon!!

What a great find! Fast and friendly service (thanks Kevin!), delicious food, and one of the best beer menus we’ve seen. Plenty of seating indoors and outside with a casual, laid back vibe. Definitely worth it after our round at the Ocala Greenway!

Today after playing we had lunch at Flying Boat Tap Room in Ocala. I’ve never been there but friends that have said that I would really like their food. So, four of us that played golf opted to go there instead of our favorite Chinese restaurant in Ocala.
When I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised at the murals on the walls. They are pictures of the Howard Hughes’ Spruce Goose. I moved to Florida from Long Beach, CA and that was where the Spruce Goose was originally placed as a museum before moving it to Oregon. The murals were beautiful and the cat in each picture of the plane was cute.
Our server Simara came by to take our drink orders and gave us the menu. My goodness such an extensive menu from Tapas to handhelds. It was a hard decision in selecting what I was going to eat. I originally asked about the Italian Beef sandwich then, I change my mind and thought maybe I can make my own pizza. No, maybe a smashed burger. While deciding what to eat for my main entrée, our friends ordered not the norm tots and banging n banging shrimp. These are listed under Tapas in the menu. It did not take long before the tapas came. I was a little reluctant to trying the shrimp but went ahead and dove in. There were five pieces of panko fried shrimp on a bed of greens with their house bang-bang sauce. You have to try this dish. The other were tater tots tossed in fresh garlic and Parmesan served with peppadew aioli.
Simara took the orders for our main entrée. I decided on the Flying Boat which is Smashed Burger, cheddar, bacon with fried egg. No cheddar cheese for me. I swear after she took the order all she did was turn then the dishes came. It was fast. Simara was always coming around to ensure that we did not need anything. Always asking everyone if they needed a refill.
I must say it was a pleasant experience which was the complete opposite of our experience from another restaurant the day before. It is always nice when a restaurant can exceed my expectations and then make me want to come back again.
If you’ve never been to the Flying Boat Tap Room in Ocala, FL you have to try it. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Wow this place was awesome ! Our waitress Hannah was great. Were here for Jeeptoberfest so we were looking for a quick bite, this place popped up and we were pleasantly surprised the food was amazing. Craft beer right on point. A must if in the area! Nice little Jem!
