Was visiting family in the Washington DC area when we stumbled upon this amazing restaurant! To say their food is healthy is an understatement. The quality and care taken to ensure that every bite does the most for your mental and physical health is evident from when you first walk in the door.
Everything you see on the menu is exactly what you get! Nothing is fake or processed!
The staff is very kind and friendly and we’re patient with my numerous questions as this was the first time I’d ever been here.
The atmosphere is relaxing and fun! We sat outside because it was a beautiful August afternoon and there was a slight breeze making it seem a bit cooler than it actually was.
We each order different things and shared our bites and came to the conclusion that everything was freaking delicious! The fact that it was healthy was a lovely side benefit! As you can see from the pictures, everything is colorful and well plated.
Sometimes salads can leave you feeling hungry a couple of hours later, not so at the flower child. Flavorful, feeling, and delicious! I cannot find enough adjectives to describe how much I love this place! I wish they had one closer to where I live, and will definitely pop in here the next time I’m in the DC area.

The atmosphere here was great, the service was timely & the food was good.

I ordered Avocado Seasar salad with steak & broccolies.
The portion was a bit big for me, but was so tasty!

I’ll comeback again!

Overall, my experience was decent, and I would recommend it as a solid option, especially if you’re in a hurry. While my tuna bowl didn’t really stand out, it was a perfectly fine meal. I think my enjoyment may have been influenced by what I ordered; the tuna bowl was just alright, it was fresh, but it lacked the flavor was hoping for.

Loved the experience at flower child! The food feels very clean light and healthy. I got the chicken with Mac n cheese side and broccoli. Personally I thought the chicken was slightly dry but not bad. My boyfriend realllyyyy liked the Mac and cheese it’s light but creamy. We also got the chicken yakisoba noodles which was really good I loved the flavoring and seasoning! There’s lots of veggies too which was great. I really liked the flowers at the tables and the decorations and overall atmosphere was just right. Really liked it will definitely come back to visit!!

Many items are made from scratch, and the menu supports different dietary restrictions, including gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options, all clearly labeled. My go-to dishes are the Mother Earth Bowl with salmon and the chopped vegetable salad. However, the quality isn’t what it used to be—I’ve noticed small details slipping, like vegetables being chopped larger and subtle changes in flavor. The gluten-free, vegan brownies were good but a bit too sweet for my taste. Still, it’s my favorite spot before or after a movie at Look Theater, and I always feel good after eating here.

Excellent tasting food. Atmosphere was relaxed, modern, colorful and comfortable. Would eat here again and would highly recommend Flower Child to vegans or vegetarians, as they have more than a handful of suitable options

This was giving flower child a try after very bland beginnings a few years a go.

This is a still great example of food I think the employees or owners probably don’t eat themselves.

The food is often disappointing, with many different culinary concepts mixed but executed poorly. Salads were a throw away due to bad flavor. Thai-like wrap had very burnt meat, it was edible but not good. Sauces leave a lot to be desired. I eat at many other salad / bowl / health food type places nearby that are much more refined.

I also tried the avocado turkey cobb. The turkey meat was very minimal… 2- THIN slices of deli meat. I expected chunks of solid in-house prepared turkey breast not the cheap preserved stuff and not so little. But out of the 4 items tried this one was edible. Just very surprised with the $0.30 worth of 2 turkey breast slices, feels amateur.

Service is great and friendly, they operate like they’re some kind of upscale restaurant. Total miss in business and customer alignment. Not sure who eats here.

Casual dining place, very comfortable. I loved the food. I had a brussel sprouts and kale with steak salad, my friend had Caesar with chicken. The portions were large and very tasty.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation for Chrissy at Flower Child McLean.

She provided exceptional service during my visit — truly the best service I have received at this location. Chrissy was incredibly patient, respectful, and attentive. She helped me customize my meal with great care, especially since I am trying to lose weight, control my sugar intake, and eat clean.

She listened to every detail of my dietary needs and spent more than ten minutes preparing the perfect balanced meal for me without showing any sign of frustration. Her smile never left her face, and she demonstrated professionalism, kindness, and genuine passion for helping customers.

Chrissy is truly the right person in the right place — a great asset to your team and a wonderful representation of Flower Child’s values.

Please pass along my appreciation to her. She made my evening better with her positive attitude and dedication.

I’ve eaten at a different Flower Child in San Diego, CA. And I liked the healthy food offerings there so I decided to give this location in Northern VA a try.

The decor is the same. Fun & artsy. The cashier & table servers seemed very nice. The bathroom was clean.

The menu has a lot of vegetarian options & healthy meat options like salmon or grilled chicken.

I ordered the chicken with the seasonal sides of brussel sprouts & butternut squash. The sides were cooked perfectly & seasoned well. The chicken, however, was quite dry. And that was disappointing. Hopefully other entree items are moist & tender. I won’t order chicken if I eat at this spot again for sure.

I also ordered a chewy chocolate chip cookie. That was pretty good. Not overly sweet.

My experience was good but average. Thankfully, the prices are very reasonable.
