We came here on a Friday night, we had a reservation, and I’m glad we did, because it was absolutely packed!! We did see people attempting to walk in and get a table. They were very disappointed! There were three of us, we ordered many dishes, the standouts were the pizza, and of course the pasta. Also the veggies and the salads were wonderful. Service was excellent, and all the food was absolutely to die for. Don’t come here if you are on a low carb diet haha! We also got all three desserts, I like that their menu is small but everything is executed perfectly. What really stood out to me, was the service. The Wait staff were very kind and patient in reminding us that we needed to vacate the table after 2 hours. I think this is perfectly reasonable! Obviously restaurants need to turn over their tables to stay in business. There were so nice about it, once they moved us back to the waiting area so others could have our table they actually gave us little splashes of wine as a thank you! Now, that is exceptional service! We would absolutely come back here.

Flour + water serves good food, good service, yet still feels overrated. After being open for several years, reservations are still a challenge, and the return for your money is not there. Some of the dishes were good but nothing stood out as mind blowing, and the music was so loud it was hard to talk sometimes. Highlights were the yellowfin tuna crudo, Arancini and budino, but the porchetta, the chicory salad and the pavlova were a disappointment.

Flour + Water is the rare San Francisco restaurant that manages to feel both contemporary and timeless, a balance that is far more difficult to achieve than it appears. It is confident without pretension, polished without ever feeling self-conscious.

The room has an understated warmth, lively yet composed, and the service is attentive, knowledgeable, and gracefully paced. One feels looked after without being hovered over—an increasingly uncommon pleasure.

The food is exceptional. The pastas are the clear triumph: impeccably made, thoughtfully composed, and deeply respectful of tradition while allowing just enough room for creativity. Each dish feels intentional and balanced, rich but never heavy. The quality of the ingredients speaks for itself, requiring no unnecessary embellishment.

Flour + Water is not a restaurant one visits merely to try—it is one to return to, to bring discerning guests, and to recommend selectively. In a city full of excellent dining, it stands out through its consistency, restraint, and quiet confidence.

A modern classic. Five stars, without reservation

This restaurant has a special place in our hearts as fur parents! We dined outside with our dog, and the staff were very welcoming and accommodating. The pizza was fantastic — hot from the oven with a perfectly crispy thin crust. I loved that the pepperoni wasn’t too salty and the cheese had a beautiful melt. The drinks we ordered came in bottles, which made them a bit pricey, but overall, it was worth it for the experience. There are both indoor and outdoor seating options, and the outdoor area is perfect if you want to enjoy a meal with your furry friend. We’ll definitely be back to try more pizza flavors!

Great food! We did the New Year’s Eve tasting and they were very accommodating with substitutions.

Their wine list was good too and we ended up with a great Brunello.

Legendary spot but under delivered on service.
I thought the food was absolutely delicious, but the portions were small and that paired w the less than attentive service made for an underwhelming experience. My fancy pasta budget will be going to Belotti in Oakland in the future: similar vibe tho a little more classic than trendy and more attentive service
Menu highlights: veal tartare was stand out and both pastas were solid

Graceful, elegant, but most importantly delicious.
Fresh pasta with bold flavor profiles make this restaurant stand out.
I would be delighted to eat here again, if only for the prompt and friendly take service.

So I did not actually eat here. I ordered it through DoorDash or whatever service. That’s a lie, my mom ordered it for me. I cannot comment on their service or environment but I’m sure it is pretty good. I liked the wings. They had a great sauce on them and cooked well. I also liked the pizza. We got three pizzas and all were great. The dough is really good and the pizza is prepared how I usually like my pizza. That is thin but then a crunchy and thicker crust. Toppings and pizza was good. I’m pretty sure they do pasta as well which I should have tried. I like Italian food so I might be a bit bias towards this one. Anyways, solid place. I’m writing this a day later so I’m trying my best to remember. I am sitting outside a Thai place so we’ll see how this goes. Great food.

The severs here are very friendly and suggested different food options for us. Everything we ordered here was very good, especially the bread that is paired with honey.

From the wait staff, all the way to the chefs, you can tell a lot of care and thought was put into each and every aspect of the meal. We loved every bite and am counting the days until we can be back!! Also heard their pizzerias are phenomenal so looking for a chance to visit one of those soon too!
