We visited Flour & Stone right before the snowstorm and had the place entirely to ourselves. This was actually our fifth visit since discovering the restaurant. Our server was incredibly friendly and attentive, and another staff member checked in on us as well, which was very thoughtful and made us feel truly welcomed.
We originally came for the seafood crepe, but due to the weather it wasn’t available. Instead, they recommended the tropical crepe, which we decided to try. We ended up ordering the tropical crepe, the farmer’s plate, and the rabbit and biscuit, along with our morning coffee. Everything was excellent. I’ve always loved this restaurant for what it offers, but this visit especially stood out. I don’t usually comment on my dining experience to the staff, but I felt compelled to let them know how much I enjoyed it.
The food was absolutely fantastic. I’m very picky when it comes to food, and I truly had no complaints. The latte was great, and the brewed coffee was strong and full of flavor. The tropical crepe was a wonderful surprise—not overly sweet, freshly made, and honestly one of the best dessert dishes I’ve had at any restaurant. Portions are always generous, the protein balance is excellent, and I’ve never once left with a negative experience.
Also very happy to learn that my favorite plate is coming back to the menu!

This place was recommended by a good friend of mine, and I was excited to take my partner here for valentine’s day. I made the reservation weeks ahead.
Ultimately, the food was really disappointing. We got two appetizers and two entrees, and the only dish we were happy with was focaccia with ricotta. The olives were extremely salty to a point it was difficult to eat. The amount of salt was the same on the chicken dish, which was a valentine’s day special. Gnocchi was okay – the gnocchi itself was really great with cheesy flavor and chewy texture, but the sauce on this was disappointing and also salty. I’m not sure if it was the cook that day or if this is how salty their dishes are on a daily basis.
The host who I assume is the owner was really sweet despite short interaction. The server was okay, but it was not great that I specifically asked if they pace the menus to make sure we don’t feel rushed, which she responded that she paces everything and she really didn’t. We maybe had 15 minutes since we got appetizers before she came to us and said “are you guys almost done? the mains are ready and waiting” I’m not sure if her pacing was different from what I am used to. I definitely didn’t mean she put all orders at once and serve as soon as it’s ready.
Their price is not very expensive, but I would still expect to have well-seasoned dishes and more professional service when I spend over $50 per person.

Brunch at Flour & Stone during PSU Family Weekend was a total win! The food was delicious, portions just right, and the Mimosas and Bloody Marys were perfection. The staff made us feel so welcome — such a great vibe all around. Thanks for making Family Weekend even better! We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!

This is a really cute place and we’ve been to it three times now. The first time was several years ago, and we were really impressed. The food was warm, comforting, and well-prepared. We went last year around this time (Feb 2025) and the quality had gone done, but we chalked it up to a bad night. On Friday Feb 27th we had a rare night out and were excited to go back to Flour and Stone. Service started well and was attentive. We ordered the salad and beet hummus to share. The salad was fresh and well-dressed, nothing special. The beet hummus was tasty but came with stale pita that seemed like it had been warmed and re-warmed several times (despite the fact it was early in the evening). I got the trout cassoulet and my husband got the pasta with rabbit and a creamy sauce. Both came out looking lackluster and overcooked. The trout was overcooked, and just because you serve something over beans does not make it a cassoulet. The beans were fine but the chorizo on top looked like it has been deep-fried and dried out. My husband’s pasta was really disappointing. One note, all white and bland texture and shredded rabbit. Unfortunately we didn’t get any photos. We skipped dessert and will likely not go back again. I think this place is suffering from a lack of execution. The menu looks great and is using all the right words to sell the items, but the kitchen staff don’t seem to be able to consistently churn out tasty, warm food. The fact that even the pita bread was dry and stale is a bad sign. We left at 7:30 and the place was empty on a Friday night. That’s not a great sign. Sigh…wish we had 1 or 2 good options for fine dining in this town.

Had brunch here and really enjoyed it. The panini was fresh, perfectly toasted, and full of flavor. Finished with a house-made doughnut filled with peach jam — soft, not too sweet, and delicious. Friendly staff and a nice, cozy atmosphere. Great spot for a relaxed weekend brunch.

Very tasty late Sunday dinner (they close at 8pm) We ordered two appetizers, two entrees, and shared the dessert. Drink menu has a variety of options, but they can’t do custom cocktails since there is not a bar. The squash agrodolce was delicous and plentiful. The focaccia was a nice small size and excellent (thanks to the server for recommending it). My mushroom and truffle farro risotto was creamy and not overly rich. The lamb pasta was unique with figs, certainly something everyone should try. The pretzel salted caramel budino was delicious and light.

An amazing dining experience at Flour & Stone! Lynn, our server was attentive, helpful and sweet!
We ordered the focaccia with ricotta and honey, sausage rigatoni, short rib gnocchi and swordfish. The focaccia with ricotta and honey was so good we had to order a second serving. The Cabernet and Chinon both paired perfectly with our dinner. The service and food paired perfectly with our evening. We will definitely be back the next time we are in State College!

Such a cute place for a romantic dinner, the ambiance was top notch and very cozy. For starters, we got the focaccia and ricotta cheese with honey, the combination is perfect. For mains, we got the swordfish and the short rib gnocchi. The swordfish was delicious but the gnocchi dish was too oily/heavy, probably because they had fatty short rib pieces inside and each bite tasted different. I’m not sure if that’s how the dish is supposed to be or if it was a mistake on their part. But overall, the menu is nice and varied, I would love to visit again to try other dishes!

We have been thrilled with every visit to Flour and Stone. The service is always excellent and the food is as well. When I visit a restaurant I look for food that is warming comforting and filling and that I wouldn’t have necessarily made myself at home. This always fits the bill. The gnocchi are my favorite.

I absolutely loved this place. The staff were very courteous. It was our first time there and the angel hair frittata I ordered was exceptional, so was the accompanying salad. The black tea and the El toreador were fantastic as well, whereas my brown sugar oatmilk latte could’ve been better. I think I will come back just for the frittata and to taste some other brunch items that looked absolutely delicious. I did rate the atmosphere 4/5 mainly because of the planning of the tables, the room on a table for 2 actually had very limited space. But the wonderful staff more than makeup for this.
