Grass Valley has two Flour Gardens to choose from. I prefer the atmosphere of the Brunswick location, but the sweet treats, coffee, and food are good both places. The downtown Flour Garden is a go to place to grab coffee and maybe a bagel for breakfast.

We ordered two cakes from here. Placing an order was a great experience. They were busy when I called and was told that they would call back and they did within 5 minutes. Olaf was very patient in taking down the order. The cakes themselves were absolutely beautiful, and sooo delicious! One cake was a chocolate cake with coconut custard cream filling and cream cheese frosting. The other cake was a lemon cake with lemon curd filling and lemon butter cream frosting. The cakes were both moist and soft, the filling and frosting on both cakes was not too sweet. Will definitely order cakes from them again! Thanks for making my birthday so memorable!

I love the Flour Garden Bakery. They make great soups, baked goods, treats. The chocolate dipped macaroons are delicious. I’m so happy for Bill and Susan Copeland for their 40 years of successful business, a local treasure.

At the end of the day the selection is slim. The pressed juices are very delicious, just wish they were colder. They have dog biscuits that my dog loves. The iced coffee is really good too.

On our way to Fairy Fall Head Trail we stopped here randomly for a coffee. My hubby ended up buying the blueberry almond muffin and a raspberry mocha with extra shots. When I tell you he loved it, I mean he really loved it. I have never heard him moan like that with each bite and sip he took. I was amazed. LOL. This place is awesome. We will definitely be back when we head out that way again.

My husband and I have the fondest memories of staying with friends for a few months in Grass Valley and waking up every morning and heading to the Flour Garden for a great cup of coffee. We are heading up this week to visit and will be sure to stop and visit an old favorite. Thanks Flour Garden, for adding to our positive feelings about Grass Valley, CA.

I have been here a lot of times, pre and post pandemic, and very little has changed. When I first moved to the area, this location was my go-to for coffee, bagels, and whatever vegan treat they had that day. I liked that they had a little play/reading area for the kiddos, and their food was a reliable 7 out of 10. It was also nice that their bagels were all (with a couple exceptions) vegan by default, and that their hummus was house-made. They also have pretty yummy soups, and you can buy large frozen soups to take home. Okay, so why only 3 stars? Well, it’s mostly the attitudes of the employees. I remember pre-pandemic one employee scolding a child for the way he was playing with the dinosaurs… as in, not addressing the caregiver, but speaking straight to the child. They also seem to choose when they feel like answering the phone. Okay, maybe I caught them too busy to answer a couple times, but seriously? It was a pandemic and ordering ahead is an excellent solution for all involved. Then there was the time someone did answer, but told me she was too busy to take my to-go order… And the way they always ask if we want to tip them? ugh. It’s annoying at best – I’ve worked enough food service to know they could fix this easily enough. Basically, if you need a bite, it’s an okay place to get one, but since they have the exact same menu at the other location, I recommend taking the drive over and saving yourself the aggro. ***Side note: To this location’s credit, it’s usually less crowded than the other location…. maybe because of the service?***
